About this Cook
I am a mother of beautiful twin boys, homemaker, and recently went back to school. I love cooking, baking, nature, arts...I don't know what else to say...just busy busy busy! Any comments? plz write!: Mariamjamous@hotmail.com
My favorite things to cook
I love baking desserts mostly, but also love freestyle cooking...meaning to just improvise with what I have on hand.Usually,I'm pretty good at it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love that every Sunday, all the family gets together. We each bring some food as in a potluck dinner. We all sit and ejoy the food together. It is a great time to catch up with everyone, and try new foods. Usually, I am the one who brings desserts. I often bring more than one thing, since I love baking, I sometimes get carried away!
My cooking triumphs
When I made my very first decorated cake for my sister's engagement party, and it turned out great! And also my delicious samosa's that people seem to not get enough of!hehe :$
My cooking tragedies
hmmm...well, that was a very long time ago, when I was still very much a beginner and I had made a beautiful looking cake, So fluffy and golden, but when we tasted it,I found out I had mistakenly made it with salt instead of sugar!:'(

Buttermilk Pound Cake II
I used half brown sugar, as others suggested, and followed the rest exactly. Unfortunately, mine came out a bit dry and stuck to the pan quite a bit. It was really hard to get it out. I made a lemon glaze with lemon juice, water and sugar heated together, and poured over the warm cake, after I poked holes into it to make it more moist. Still was dry! Some loved it, and others thought it was just okay. I would have given it 3 stars, but because I changed the brown sugar a bit, I thought I'd give it 4 to be fair, as I am supposed to rate the recipe posted, and not my modifications. :) thanks for sharing!

Russian Potato Salad from Costa Rica
Really good recipe if you want a change from the usual potato salad, especially if you like beets. I used fresh beets that I diced and and boiled for a while until they were fork soft. Separately boiled the potatoes as well as the eggs. Moth my kids love beets, so they loved this salad! I do not care for beets, so I can't comment...I did add a squeeze of mustard to give it a bit of tang, and it works pretty well! Thanks for sharing :)

Gold Rush Brownies
I thought they were amazing, but I gave it four stars because everyone else in the family thought they were just okay. To me the flavour was perfectly balanced, not too sweet with the chewy-ness I love! Yumm!
