Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2014
This recipe smelled fantastic. It was really tender. But, for all the spices and flavors that went into this recipe, it came out REALLY bland. I was hoping for more flavor. On paper, this looks great. In the crock, it looked tasty. On the plate, where it really counts, it came up lacking.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
This smelled delicious, but it was bland. Adding the shrimp, even when I used raw shrimp, for the last half hour was too long; it seems like just adding them in and giving them a few minutes to cook through would be more effective. I'm thinking that perhaps we'd like this better if I took the time to saute the veggies and brown the meat first. It wasn't a bad recipe, just not as flavorful as I was expecting.

Apple Pie Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
When I made these, I added the 1 tsp. of cinnamon to the dry ingredients and left out the crumb topping altogether. They were plenty sweet without it. They were moist and delicious. I got 24 muffins from one batch -- but since I just eyeballed the amount of apples, that may have made the difference. My two kids inhaled most of them within an hour or two of them coming out of the oven. Thanks for the delicious recipe!!

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
Loved this. I did use light mayo & dijon mustard, but it was delish! I am excited to try this using plain nonfat yogurt as well. Thanks for a simple, tasty recipe. We'll definitely be using this often.

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
Delish! Used green onions and added a clove of minced garlic. Skim milk worked great for us. I also used a potato masher instead of a blender. Thanks for a great recipe!

Bertolli Classico Asparagus Saute

We love this, with or without the parmesan. My kids are super picky about vegetables but will eat this as often as I will make it. Thanks for an easy, no-fail recipe!

Vanilla Crepes

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2010
I also used 3 whole eggs, increased milk to 1 3/4 cups (skim worked great), and reduced the butter to about 2 1/2 Tbs. They turned out pretty good. We filled them with a little nutella and syrupy strawberries and raspberries. SO Yummy! Thanks for sharing!!

Easy White Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2010
This was really good. I used canned chicken as I needed to use some up, 2 cans of broth, mashed 2 of the cans of beans, and reduced the cayenne to about 1/2 tsp. Also, I used dried minced onion and minced garlic. I tossed it all in the crock pot and left it for several hours. DELICIOUS! It made a lot. (5 three cup portions) I also froze most of it for later meals. Thanks for the recipe!

Oatmeal Waffles

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
This was a really good recipe. We will definitely be making it often. It's pretty flexible. We used all-purpose flour (since I have some that needs to be used up...) I also added cinnamon, vanilla and gluten based on reviews. I used old-fashioned oats as well and they worked just fine. One of these times I will double the molasses and add some ginger and nutmeg or perhaps some pumpkin pie spice, just for kicks. This time, we topped it with banana slices and homemade strawberry syrup. Yum!! Thanks for sharing!

Apple Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
Very good. I did use just 1/3 c. oil and they were moist enough. I didn't measure the apples but just used two small Granny Smith apples. These will definitely be a fall staple in our house. Thanks for sharing!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2009
These were delicious. I did only rate it four stars as I feel they would probably have been a little bland without the changes made. I did sub in 1/2 c. whole wheat flour. I also subbed in 1/4 c. brown sugar. In addition, I added vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon to the muffin batter. I also upped the cinnamon for the crumb topping. These were so good. Thanks for a good base recipe!

Southern-Style Chocolate Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
Really good! I wasn't sure what to expect with this but paired it with the South Georgia Biscuits recipe from this site. After the second bite, both my kids and I were hooked. We all had a second helping. This gravy is very rich so it is quite filling. Thanks for a fun, easy breakfast!

South Georgia Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
I have seen the light and I'm never going back! :) These are so delicious. They look beautiful. It was so easy to make them. It really didn't take much more time than using a mix or making drop biscuits. We paired these with the Southern-Style Chocolate Gravy recipe from this site. Loved 'em! This will definitely be the recipe we use for biscuits in the future.

Corn Dog Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
Really surprisingly good. The kids loved them and so did I. (I loathe hot dogs and only mildly enjoy a corn dog once a year or so.) They were good dipped in both yellow mustard and dijon. I did follow other reviewers suggestions and half the recipe, half again the sugar, and slice the hotdogs in half lengthwise and then slice in small chunks. I then mixed them straight into the batter. Thanks for the easy recipe!

French Breakfast Puffs

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
Very yummy! I did make some changes based on other reviews. I added nearly half a tsp. of pumpkin pie spice instead of nutmeg. Also, I skipped the butter topping entirely. I just sprinkled cinnamon sugar in the bottom of each muffin cup and sprinkled more on top before baking. The butter would be yummy I just didn't want the extra calories and fat this time. My kids loved it as well. Thanks for a quick and yummy breakfast recipe that we can dress up or down based on the occasion.

Ham Bone Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2009
Because I made so many changes, I did only give this four stars. It is a fabulous base recipe that really does fit the comfort food bill. I added 2 peeled and sliced carrots, 2 celery stalks including leaves, chopped, and I left out the green peppers as I didn't have any. I used about 6 c. water since I didn't use the liquid from the beans and used 6t. chicken base instead of bouillon. It filled my 7 qt. crockpot. It was filling and warm and tasty. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
My ultra-picky husband loved this chicken and requested that I make it more often. I did reduce the butter to 1/4 c. I also reduced the cooking time by baking for 30 min. covered with foil and then an addtl. 20 min. uncovered. I used frozen, boneless, skinless chicken thighs since that is what I had on hand. It was perfect. Thanks so much!

Chicken Bog

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
This was really good. I did use canned low-sodium chicken broth and 2 cans of cooked chicken (mainly because that is what I had on hand) but it still turned out great. I used about 2 1/2 t. of Old Bay Seasoning in place of the italian spices. It was delicious. Very filling and plenty of flavor. This is definitely a keeper. Thanks!

Yum! So good. I did use boneless, skinless thighs since that is what I had on hand and I didn't bother with the salt and pepper. It was still wonderful!!!!
