Bar-B-Que Sauce

Reviewed: May 18, 2013
I marinaded the chicken for about an hour in this sauce, and then my husband grilled it up. Tasted delicious! I will definitely make this sauce again, and will also try to use it as a sauce for baked chicken.

Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2012
Fantastic! I kept mine non-dairy and used unflavored rice milk in place of regular milk, and it worked out perfectly. So moist. I brought this to a potluck and the reviews were outstanding. Just decorated with powdered sugar - this doesn't need anything else. Do use a dash of salt.

Slow Cooker Chili II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
I drained my beans and used 2/3 of a bottle of beer for extra liquid since my chili cooked for about 17 hours before getting eaten. It worked out well!

Old Fashioned Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
So so good! My strawberries were so-so sweet, so I used 3/4 C white sugar and that was perfect. For thickener, I used appx 3 tsp cornstarch and 3 T all purpose flour. After baking and cooling, I put it in the fridge and warmed to room temperature to serve - it held together perfectly.

Fresh Rhubarb Pie

Scrumptious - just what I was looking for. Next time, I'll paint egg on top to make it even prettier.

Pastry for Double Pie-Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
This was my first homemade pie crust ever, and I will - from now on - be a homemade pie crust girl. I started off cutting with two knives but tired and switched to the food processor. Came out fantastically, made with margarine to keep it non-dairy.

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
Pretty good, but did taste like it was missing something. Happily, using apple cider vinegar worked just as well as white distilled vinegar.

Barbeque Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
Doubled the sauce ingredients and mixed it directly in the Pyrex dish that the chicken baked in (skipping the stovetop step). Came out very tasty!

Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
I have made this with meat and without, and both versions work wonderfully! I make this all in one step and add all of the ingredients at one time. I took others' suggestions and doubled the vinegar while halving the sugar, and I also added dill and cut up potatoes. Delicious!

Cranberry Nut Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2011
Yum! I'm eating this right now, fresh out of the oven. I omitted nuts, and used lemon zest in place of the orange zest which made the bread tarter, and it could have benefited from a little bit more sugar in the dough. I used about 1/4-1/3 C whole wheat flour out of the 2 C of prescribed flour. Overall, a keeper and so delicious.

Muesli

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
Delicious! I'm eating mine now with almond milk. My Trader Joe's didn't have wheat germ or wheat bran, so I added the oat bran, and then supplemented with toasted flax seeds (a la Trader Joe's) that lent the muesli a wonderfully toasted taste. No sunflower seeds - used slivered almonds instead, with raisins and dried cranberries. Yum!!

Jeanie's Falafel

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
These falafel taste AMAZING! Probably the best that I've ever had. I am new to fried foods, and when I made the mistake of not waiting for my pan-fried oil to reheat between batches, the falafel came out pale and fell apart. But the ones that I did right are crisp and attractive.

Bread Machine Challah II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
After reading some of the reviews, I anticipated needing to add extra flour -- I ended up using 6 1/2 cups of bread flour! This made the dough very easy to work with, and I got fantastic results from the final baked product. Looking forward to making another batch!

Corn Souffle

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
My mistake was freezing this once it was baked - it became all runny once defrosted. So, my rating is based on my own mistake of freezing it...

White Bread For The Bread Machine

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
This was really nice... but a bit too salty for me. Next time, I'll reduce the salt by at least 1/4 tsp. I used all purpose flour and that worked beautifully; even used 1 T brown sugar in place of white sugar with good results. Will bake it in the bread machine on the "light" setting next time instead of the "medium" to reduce the thickness of the crust.

Fig and Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
This chicken was okay, but not stupendous. I was looking for a different spin on a Mediterranean chicken recipe and came across this... I don't think I'll be making this again.

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

This was delicious! I doubled the sauce and skipped the green pepper and carrot. I served this over brown rice and it was wonderful. This will enter my recipe repertoire.

Bean Soup With Kale

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Rave reviews all around! So tasty and nourishing! I made this soup twice - once with 2 cans of canellli beans, and once with 1 can chick peas + 1 can kidney beans. Both are delicious. Instead of plum tomatoes, I used a can of diced tomatoes with oregano and basil - gave the broth some extra savoriness. I'm about to forward this recipe to my mother and my best friend!

Lemonade Pie III

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
I just made this lemonade pie for the second time and ACCIDENTALLY used evaporated (non-sweetened) milk. This turned out to be a wonderful mistake, because I was then able to control the sweetness of this pie with adding honey until the desired sweetness. When I'd made this pie previously, the sweetness but just too much, although still delicious.
