Poppy Seed Bread III

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2014
Not a fan. WAY too much sugar and it turned out hard and dense.

Chicken Biryani

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
It was great! Though I did need some added zing - maybe some Paprika? I felt it needed to be much spicier, but the flavor overall was great, and most of my friends who enjoyed this dish are not into spicy foods - so just perfect! I did not have yogurt on hand - used sour cream instead and it tasted just fine. Curious to know what the difference in taste might have been. Definitely making again in the very near future! Served w/Basmati rice & I also sprinkled lots of the Pampered Chef Moroccan Rub on top! MMM!

Fresh Tomato Basil Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
Excellent flavor! I did not have 8 pounds of tomatoes, so used about 3.5 pounds instead, added 1/2 large yellow onion, 2 cloves garlic, liberal amount of organic canola oil and basil in both the sauce & onion/garlic sauté. Oh, and I added 4 mini yellow and red peppers (the 2 pound bag you can find at Costco - wilson's brand), which gave this sauce the perfect thickness I was looking for! Enjoy!

Cantina Pinto Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
This was FABULOUS! I doubled the recipe and cooked it all at one time in my slow cooker for 10 hours on LOW. YUMMMY!!!! Oh, and of the 4 cans of tomatoes added, one of them was diced tomatoes and jalepeno's - this gave it the extra spice and kick I needed! Thanks!!!

Hot Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
Very tasty. Just like Buffalo Wings without the mess. I think 16 oz of cheese is a bit excessive. 8 oz was plenty for us, and I definitely didn't need to use the full 12 oz of hot sauce to give it a nice kick! I did about 7 oz of hot sauce and that made it a pretty spicy "medium" flavor. I also think that 1 pound of shredded chicken breast is too little. I used 1 1/2 pounds, but I think more like 3 pounds would make this dip PERFECT!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
I must admit that I don't think this stuffing "looks" the most appetizing, but it certainly TASTES LIKE HEAVEN! I made a traditional stuffing w/apricots to go inside of the actual turkey, which all of my family and relatives love, but this year they told me that this one is their new favorite so I better make it again each year! I loved that it made so much and I had plenty on hand, which is always a problem with our family of 14+!

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
For my first time making home-made bread, all I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!! I had 3 couples over for a game night and served 2 loaves of this bread, and they all said it was the best homemade bread they have ever had!! It's no surprise that this recipe is a blue ribbon winner. Thank God for allrecipes!! :)

Quinoa and Black Beans

Fabulous! Personally, I enjoyed it best with just a few teaspoons of ranch per serving to give it a little "kick" - this actually reminded me a lot of the stuff you order @ Chipotle's, but is way better!!

Curried Chicken and Brown Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
OUTSTANDING!! Every member of my family (7 of us) loved this dish, and my brother who was visiting and disliked raisins couldn't stop raving about this recipe. I will definitely be making this on a regular basis! It's nice to have something be so healthy and yet taste soooo good. Oh, and I used regular brown rice, not the quick cooking rice. I let it cook for 70 mins in the oven. It turned out just perfect!

Slow Cooker Tapioca Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2008
I make a double-batch of this at least once every month, and everyone in my family (7 of us) loves it. My 92 yr old Grandma even complimented it while she was here. Unlike the other reviewers, I actually prefer the large pearl tapioca vs the smaller ones. I like mine to be rich and thick!

Chicken Supreme III

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2006
Delicous! I turn to this recipe every time I'm making a meal for a family from church who just had a baby, is recovering from surgery, etc. Everyone LOVES it, and I get great feedback each time. It's a favorite for my family as well! Tip: It will be easier to cut up the chicken breast pieces into cubes if it's a little on the frozen size. Do not let it completely defrost. I find it much easier this way. I love that you can make this from start to finish in less than an hour! Also, you can top with ANY cheese you like. I've used all kinds - parmesean, swiss, pizza cheese, taco cheese, etc. Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we all do!

Killer Artichokes

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2006
Pretty good. I felt it could use a bit more flavoring, however. Also ~ be careful when putting them on the grill after removing them from boiling water. Mine were VERY tender (yummy), but accidentaly dropped a few on the floor. After the fact, I almost think putting them on foil and then placing on the grill would be a better idea. The garlic and buttery taste is great. Overall ~ I'd give it 4 stars for flavor, but 3 stars (which I'm giving) for the vague directions.

Turkey with Apricot-Chestnut Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
All 12 of my Christmas guests LOVED this stuffing! I did change it a little -- used water chestnuts (2 8oz cans, drained) instead of the actual chestnuts, walnuts, or pecans the recipe says you can use. We found it to be extra tasty, crunchy, & moist with the added water chestnuts. All of my guests walked away merry and full! :)

Sunflower Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2005
These are great! 4 stars because they are a little on the dry side. I feel like they could use some olive oil, more butter, or something? I added 1 cup raisins & 1 cup very finely chopped sunflower seeds. I used Amish vanilla extract, which gives it a nice rich flavor. My children love these and I don't feel as guilty about the sugar and fat when the "healthy" ingredients far outway the "unhealthy". Sunflower seeds and whole oats are so beneficial to our health, and I think most parents would find it hard to get their child to eat a handful of sunflower seeds alone! Great recipe. Will make again, next time adding some extra virgin olive oil.

Garlic Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2005
I'm only giving this 4 stars because I think it tastes SO much better by using fresh garlic than the powder. For 12 ears of corn I used about 4 garlic cloves. Delicous! Last night I tried it the way the recipe calls for garlic powder and it was definitely not as good. I also found that the garlic powder seemed to "dry out" the corn much faster.
