About this Cook
I have been a baker for about six years and own a gourmet cookie business, www.bitesbakingcompany.com. I am always looking for new baking recipes. I would ultimately like to assemble a book filled with perfect recipes for cookies, brownies, cakes and other desserts.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake just about anything. I also like cooking things that are quick and that my kids will like. I like eating healthy. I enjoy grilling and always try to incorporate as many food groups into a meal as I can.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is a great cook! My daughter loves to bake with me and try our results (including licking the bowl, spoon, and her fingers). My son also likes to help and be a taste tester. I would love to start a holiday cookie cut-out tradition with the kids.
My cooking triumphs
I have come up with a pretty great original brownie recipe that is sort of a mix of several other recipes. It has three different kinds of chocolate and is pretty involved, but it's also quite fantastic. I also have made a couple of gorgeous wedding cakes that my clients have raved about, and that makes me so proud. For me, it's all about the taste.
My cooking tragedies
In a word - fudge. My only total failure!

White Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
These cookies rocked my world and everyone else's who had the fortune to taste them. These are super sweet and great for an outdoor summer party or barbecue because the chocolate doesn't melt. I used half white chips and half butterscotch, and omitted the nuts. I also chilled the dough well before making 1.5 ounce dough balls and baking them. This will be one of my go-to cookie recipes!

Pear Scones
Great recipe! I made this because I have a pear tree and needed to use up some pears. One change: I substituted milk for the half-and-half, and only added a little at a time until the batter was just barely moist (it was probably closer to 1/3 cup than 1/2 cup). This change made the batter just right, not too wet. Delicious!

Easy Baking Powder Drop Biscuits
Awesome as a shortcake-style biscuit or scone for a strawberry dessert. My main changes were adding an extra tbsp sugar, decreasing the milk to 1 cup, and sprinkling with a dash of cinnamon before baking at 375 for about 15-18 minutes. Very tasty and light and best of all, no shortening!
