Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
Typically with any recipe I always double the spices so this turned out fabulous given that, it's definitely a staple in my home!

Chocolate Cappuccino Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
This turned out fabulous! It was my second time making cheesecake. I did double the recipe for the crust though. I also used the Via instant coffee from Starbucks in Italian Roast.

Cajun Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
This was my first time making gumbo and it turned out great! I followed the recipe exactly (I thought) until my roux didn't come out, but I got it right the second time - just needed higher heat! Originally I just threw some chicken in the slow cooker but realized I had all the ingredients for this recipe (I used Tony Chachere's spice) SO happy I tried it, will be a regular dish now!

Easy Salmon Cakes

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
This recipe was great and easy! I didnt have green onion so I used white and leftover blackened salmon instead of canned. I believe that added a lot to the flavor! They were gone in seconds! Great served with mayo/mustard and thyme or whatever seasonings you like!

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
This is an excellent and easy to make recipe. I used frozen blueberries, increased the sugar to 1 cup and the cornstarch to 4 tablespoons. I also baked it on the bottom rack at 400 for 50 minutes and it came out delicious.

World's Best Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
The BEST!! I doubled the recipe and made three; a 13x9 for my place, a 9x9 for my grandparents and a 5x9 for my father. Everyone LOVED it!! I cooked my sauce for a couple hours and used just one box of noodles soaked in hot tap water for 30 minutes. I baked mine that night and put the other two in the fridge over night. The only changes I made was using beef only. I got a phone call the next night from my father saying it was the best he's ever had!! My boyfriend is now in love with me for it and is hoping we have leftovers!! This was my first time making lasagna too!!

Red Velvet Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
These were extremely moist and delicious cookies! The changes I made were using semi sweet baking chocolate (didnt have unsweetened), mini chocolate chips and also used only a couple teaspoons of the food coloring (generic from Target). They came out great and with good color, perfect for the holidays!

Oven Baked Jambalaya

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2010
The only alterations I made to this were excluding the ham and shrimp, doubling the chicken (which I seasoned with the Creole spices). I decided to try adding the rice instead of cooking it separately and at 1.5hrs it was cooked well (my oven runs really hot), maybe could use more sauce next time even though I halved the recipe. Overall great dish, easy and spicy but not too much! Will be making often!

Black Bean Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
This was really good for a vegetable soup! I left out the carrots and added paprika, garlic powder and onion powder for more flavor and topped it with cheese and sour cream!

Bean Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
I don't know that Ive ever been so excited about a Quesadilla recipe before!! I absolutely loved this, it was quick and easy and tasted so much better than expected! As a rule of thumb for this site I always double the spices, so when I saw there were none in this I added some chili powder, paprika, and cumin to the mix as well as some Jalapenos (leaving out the corn). Then baked for 10 minutes, HEAVEN!

Christmas Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
This was PERFECT for Christmas morning! Love that you prepare it the night before! The only changes I made were adding more hash browns and omitting the mushrooms (dont care for them). I also sauteed the onions in the bacon grease which added much needed flavor! Next time I will break up the bacon to distribute it more evenly as it was a pain to cut with a fork. Will be making again and again!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Wow! I LOVE this recipe!! First I think its the seasoning that makes it, I couldnt imagine it without. You should make extra and keep it handy for quick prep! Just gathered everything and threw it in the pot! All I had to do was cut the onions, next time I think I might add some rice. Very inexpensive too, I had most everything at home!!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
Ive only had Mac and Cheese out of a box once when I was younger and didnt like it at all, so whenever I had the chance to try anyone else's I refused. Now that Ive made plenty of baked dishes with meat I wanted to try this and it came out great! The only alterations I made were adding onion and bacon, still used the full cup of bread crumbs because I like the texture and didnt add any milk as reviewers suggested as I prefer a cheesier texture. This was perfect, will make again but double the cheddar!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
The only alterations I made to these were using 1/3 cup Brown Sugar with 2/3 White Sugar and 1/4 cup Butter with 1/2 cup Margarine and placed the dough in the fridge for 20 minutes (I made these alterations by preference and reviews). When shaping the dough I flattened them a bit before 'flipping' them in sugar so they would be wide and they turned out fabulous! There's no airtight jar needed! They might feel hard outside when a day old (if they last that long) but they melt in your mouth!! Some might say they are too sweet but the sugar is a great contrast to the mild yet flavorful spices.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
Not having a bread machine kept me away from this recipe for quite a bit, until I read the reviews. I followed the directions and advice well and was skeptical as it was my first time but they turned out great!! I dropped them off for my boyfriend this morning for his birthday and he said 'these taste better than the mall ones' followed by 50 'I love you's'! So worth the time! Will be making these VERY often!! **For those of you who said the mixture leaked out during baking:: After I cut the rolls I unrolled them and then rolled them back up so they became tight again and there was barely any mixture left on the bottom of the pan**
