I like beer, big huge thick steaks (of any meat origin - wild meats or farmed) fishing, and NASCAR!! I'm a female truck driver and also work for the coast guard (so I can fish!!!).
My favorite things to cook
Breads, slow cooker stuff (soups) just about anything. Wild meats.. yum. I like to experiment with different recipes. I like quick and easy stuff. Not lazy, just busy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Typical farmers from the 19th century...a meal's not a meal without meat an' potatoes (and chicken and fish don't count as meat - although I love them as well)
My cooking triumphs
My kick-butt yorkshire puddings from scratch. Real beef fat (not oil) and everything mixed at room temp are both an absolute must!
My cooking tragedies
Cooking for a boyfriend for the first time. Set the back of my sweatshirt on fire by leaning against the stove

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust
Made this dough/pastry recipe just as written, but added (with the water/egg mixture a half tsp white vinegar). The pastry when cooked was light, flaky and delicious! I will keep this recipe as my regular one for any pies (meat or fruit).

Chicken Pot Pie IX
Best chicken pot pie I've ever made.... and I forgot to put the peas in! Still tasted awesome. I made the pie crust pastry from scratch though. Light and fluffy, filling flavorful and not runny, yet not too dry either.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Wow. Fantastic! Added 1 1/2 cups of chopped walnuts as well. Made just a little over 3 dozen cookies. They were gone not even 12 hours later (I shared them with friends and they all loved them. "No, I'll only have one...okay, maybe two.... Can I have just ONE more?" Too funny.) Great recipe. But I only got two cookies myself before they were gone darnit!
