My favorite things to cook
Dessert! especially when it's chocolate!
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Christmas time, we follow the Swedish tradition of "sju sorter kakor", or seven kinds of cookies. We usually have rum balls, pralines, spritz, almond bars, pepparkakor (gingersnaps) and whatever else suits our fancy that year!
My cooking triumphs
For my mother's birthday I made her a 4 layer carrot banana cake with cream cheese frosting, dying the frosting several colors and decorating with flowers. Definitely the fanciest cake I've ever made - and the tastiest! And it probably didn't hurt that I doused it with coconut rum!
That, or one of the wine & cheese parties I've thrown - some may say I go overboard giving people lists of which hors d'oeuvres and cheeses go with which wine.
My cooking tragedies
I tried making a pecan pie when I was about 13. It came out completely burnt, but my dad ate the whole thing anyway!
