Tastes like an improved version of scalloped potatoes. Following other reviewers suggestions, I halved the amount of potatoes and cut them into slices, and still they barely fit into the dish. In fact, I had to put a cookie sheet on the bottom rack to catch all of the spilling. After removing from the oven I had a small puddle of butter laying there on the cookie sheet and still, the potatoes were swimming in butter, even after halving the butter. I will definitly cut down on the butter next time. I was afraid of the potatoes getting mushy so I put the potatoes in raw and cooked for about 1 1/2 hours, like my regular scalloped potatoes, and they came out perfect. Also, I used regular breadcrumbs and parmesan/romano cheese. I didn't really notice the cheese much, perhaps should have used more as others recommended. The hardest part for me, was stirring the mixture, but well worth the work. My new favorite leftover ham recipe!
