Mocha Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2006
Finally a chocolate cake that doesn't taste of baking soda and is nice and fluffy like a chiffon cake! Bf said the coffee flavour is too strong but as this is a personal thing, I'm still giving this a 5-star! The only difference is that I used an angelfood cake tin as don't have a bundt. This cake should really change its name, it is more of a chiffon cake than a bundt.

Jan's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2006
help!! I made this exactly as instructed, thinking that this would be a no-fail cake, and I was wrong! I don't know what I did wrong, as I said I followed everything written, can anyone tell me why it turned out sticky? It's thick and didn't raise much, and you can see it's so moist inside it's not even a cake, not even a brownie, it's just a hard dense block of black stuff! :( So disappointed~ someone please tell me what could cause this!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
oh man, this cake's so cool! I love the crusty bit, so nice and crunchy, just wished there's more crunchy bits :) All I substituted was the flour, I used pure flour instead, as I ran out of all-purpose, dunno what it's like with all-purpose but it turned out so nice and soft and fluffy, will make it again as a base of many things to come! Thanks for the recipe :)

It smelt good and looked good before I put it into the oven. It didn't turn out at all, it was hard and thick and didn't puff up, I followed your instructions exactly and would like to know how everyone else succeded! Very disappointed :(

Creamy Caramel Flan

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2005
It came out really nice and everything, and for once I finally succeeded with making caramel! However, my entire family and my bf all thought it's way too sweet, and no one liked the cream cheese addition (I cut it by half as suggested, still shouldn't be in the recipe), along with what many reviewers mentioned the caramel being stuck to the bottom (some came out but there's still a layer) Would try again with creme broulee instead.

Lazy Dazy Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
I made this for my 21st, and since then I've made it over five times, everytime a success! Never failed! I didn't use the topping, however, for my 21st, I made it a strawberry cake by filling it with strawberry cream (cream + strawberry jam then whipped) and covered the cake with the rest of the strawberry cream, topped with seasonal fruit and more strawberries, everyone loved it! Also made this in place of ladyfinger for Tiramisu, perfect :)

Classic Tiramisu

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
Wasn't going to comment on anything as we all know how good this is! If the reviewer RIGELH sees this, and to anyone who may need to know, whip the cream until it's hard, not just the cream we have with food but over-whip it until it sticks to your whisk in blocks, I've never had problem whipping cream with an electric beater! Also in place of lady finger, I just made sponge cake and sliced it in half horizontally then place it in the dish however fits, it's good for ppl who likes more "cake" than "cream", too. :)

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
Same as many reviewers here, I turned to this recipe because I really really felt like chicken pot pie but I did not have the condensed soup handy, but it turned out so much better! I stir-fried diced chicken until they're almost done, then added the chicken broth until the chicken was cook, then I added the broth to milk to make 2 cups. I used 1 chopped onion, 1 stock of celery diced, and 1 carrot diced, stir-fried them together until they were almost cooked then added flour and gradually added the milk, stirred and blended well and smooth before adding more milk to make sure the consistency, omitted the frozen veggies and added chopped parsley and chicken pieces at the very end after the heat has been turned off. I also omitted the thyme and made 4 single pot pies, the size of the ones they serve in restaurant. My brother later asked what ever happened to the leftover and was disappointed that there were none! Am making it again tomorrow! Great recipe! :)

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
This is really tender, just like what everyone's been saying! I used porterhouse twice, so far the best type to use, omitted the liquid smoke, used minced onion and squeeze all the onion juice out of it, added quite a bit more worcestershire sauce and cut down the soy sauce like suggested by many others, and it turned out great both times! Will continue to use this recipe! Thanks Angie! :)
