Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2014
great flavor, tender when done. Would try gravy/potatoes/stuffing next time or an apple chutney or sweet chili sauce to complement.

Napa Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2014
Used sesame oil, rice vinegar. I'd like a little more sweet, so will add a bit more sugar next time. Also, loved the toasted sesame and almond, but didn't think the ramen added much to the mix besides texture.

Warm Blue Cheese Dip with Garlic and Bacon

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2014
Have made this several times, always a huge hit! Sometimes I forget to saute the garlic, but just makes it spicier. Serve with veg, bread, potato chips, tortilla chips, or triscuits, always tastes great!

Chef John's Italian Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2014
Very tasty! I halved the recipe, added a bit more garlic since we love it, a bit more on the spices and it turned out great! I like to make meatballs in my cupcake pan to help contain any runoff and help them keep shape. Cooked about 30 min this way, simmered with sauce 15 min.

Black Bean Vegetarian Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2014
Made this exactly as written, vegetarian friend said it is definitely a "keeper". I did as one other review said and refrigerated for several hours before baking. Tasty, nutritious, would be even better as a side with taco-flavored shredded chicken or carnitas. I found the end result to be slightly dry, but ended up great with salsa topper.

Refreshing Summer Orzo Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2014
Meh. Used half the capers, no juice to keep it less salty, also cooked the orzo in 1/2 water, 1/2 broth. Nice universal base for orzo salad, but needs something extra, maybe sundried tomatoes to dress it up. Probably won't make again.

Chef John's Creamy Mushroom Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2014
A little bland, needs more spice for the amount of meat. Pulled the pork shoulder apart when done, broiled to crisp it with a little bourbon and oj to bring out the flavor more. Excellent when completed.

Easy Paella

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2014
Made first time for a dinner party, was a huge hit! Mother in law loved it on the 2nd take too. Used rice with saffron already in it (Goya brand I think), browned it slightly before cooking in large skillet. Browned marinated chicken, added with rice to cook through. I took other reviewers suggestion and used dry chorizo, cut into bite size pieces, quick sautee with onion, peppers, and shrimp added into the dish for serving. I meant to add the peas, but forgot and no one noticed. I would have liked a little sweet from the peas to offset the spicy chorizo, so will be sure to include next time.

Quinoa Pilaf

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2014
Halved the recipe, but stayed heavy on the walnuts, toasted them before adding. I rinsed the quinoa and sauteed it briefly with the carrots and garlic before adding the broth. No onions in the house, so used some dried chopped onion just before all the liquid absorbed. Quinoa can be pretty bland, but came out great with the extra walnuts. Will definitely make again.

Quick Edamame Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2014
I omit the corn and prefer to lightly saute the onions as it is a little too much with the fresh onions. I also use sesame oil and a little more garlic for more asiatic flavor. My husband and I love it, and it gets even better as the flavors blend overnight.

yum and yum! For garlic lovers only, but so delicious! Great over kebabs, greek chicken, or with pita/veggies.

Greek Chicken

easy, fast to put together but a little bland as is. I have to add more garlic, some sea salt to increase the flavor a little, but I make it over and over again.

Panang Curry with Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2014
One of the best curry recipes I have tried. Used red curry paste, sesame oil. Added pulled chicken leftover from a roaster and lots of veggies, heated through. The flavor was great initially and got even better the second day. With rice was plenty for 4-5 people as noted.
