Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2013
I followed some other suggestions: added an extra half cup of sugar, let the filling mix sit in the flour/sugar for the full 30 minutes, made a lattice top crust, let the pie sit in the oven for 20 minutes after turning the oven off when it was done cooking. It's the best strawberry rhubarb pie I've ever tasted.

Hearty Corn Chowder

Reviewed: May 3, 2012
I omitted the dill, and used fat free half and half instead of evaporated milk. I also used one uncured pork sausage, and one Al Fresco chicken and mango sausage (it was what I had in the fridge). It was GOOOOD. My fiance is picky, picky, picky and he loved it.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2012
I made this dish with a few changes: I used canned chicken, added frozen California blend veggies, used 2 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce and 1 tablespoon of hoisin garlic sauce, and I fried it about 12 minutes. It was so good! My EXTREMELY picky fiance loved it, and my friend who just got back from traveling in Asia devoured it. Well done.

Everything Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2012
These are a fantastic jumping off point to put your own spin on an "everything" cupcake. I changed up some of the ingredients (picky eaters at my house) so here goes: I used a yellow cake mix, applesauce instead of oil, unsweetened vanilla almond milk instead of water, and added white chocolate chips and m&ms. I also omitted the coconut and peanut butter. I made a simple cream cheese frosting. The picky eater LOVED them.

Buddy's and Bubba's Homemade Dog Food

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
I have 2 dogs, an average sized male Doberman with typical skin allergies, and a donkey sized Mastiff. This food is great for them both, not to mention cheaper. My dogs love this food so much I have to watch them eat so they don't steal food from each others' bowls. When I fed them the food that costs $65 for a 35lb bag they would sit and stare at me, or leave food in the bottom of the bowl. Not anymore. My personal additives: pork roast since I have one dog with a beef allergy, but cook it VERY thoroughly, dogs can get trichinosis too. I've also added asparagus, and a tablespoon of plain yogurt with live cultures just before serving to cut down on the gas.

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
What I meant to say is that these cupcakes are amazing. My roommate said it was the best cupcake he's ever had. I followed others' tips and used milk instead of water and almost a 1/2 cup cocoa.
