Florentines I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
I first had florentines in college when a friend's mom would send us some every Christmas. It's been almost 10 years since I had one! I always thought they would be difficult to make but came across a recipe in a magazine that rekindled my interest. I didn't have all the ingredients for that recipe so I used this one instead. This recipe is so simple and absolutely delicious! I made it exactly as directed except I spread the chocolate thinly on the bottoms of the cookies instead of drizzling. The recipe yielded 4 dozen cookies. The half teaspoons of batter spread to about 2" when baked. My husband and I have decided we will try this recipe for making dessert bowls by shaping the warm cookies ove the backs of muffin cups. Don't hesitate to try these cookies as they will become a regular staple in your cookie repertoire.

Baklava

Easy and delicious! I roasted my nuts a little; next time I may add a little salt and butter when I roast them. I also made this recipe with chopped macadamia nuts and white chocolate chips in the bottom layers. All my test tasters said they were even better that way!

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2005
Very tasty. I made a half batch which yielded 3.5 dozen cookies. I also added milk chocolate toffee bits and milk chocolate candy bar chunks in the place of some of the semisweet chips. Mmm mmm.

Creamy Shrimp Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
Delicious! I made these tonight on a trial run before a big baby shower and they are wonderful. I used the larger cherry (not grape) tomatoes and I had just enough filling for two pints. I boiled my shrimp beforehand with some Zatarain's Shrimp and Crab Boil. To the filling mixture I added garlic powder, minced onion, and cayenne pepper. This combination is perfect and makes a savory little treat that I am sure will be a hit. Very easy to prepare if you have the Pampered Chef Cook's Corer and Easy Accent Decorator. Thanks so much for a great recipe!

Curried Chicken Tea Sandwiches

I used this recipe for a baby shower and everyone loved it. I chopped all the ingredients up finely since my sandwiches were on the small side.

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
Absolutely the best! I would increase the coffee to 1 cup, keep the rum at 2 tablespoons, and add 2 tablespoons of kahlua. I brushed this mixture on the ladyfingers when layering in the dish. I would also increase the whipping cream to 2 cups to make this layer a bit more generous and add a little powdered sugar. Definitely try this recipe; you won't be disappointed!!!

White Sangria

Fabulous! Very smooth and fruity, but not too sweet. The buzz sneaks up on you nicely! I substituted brandy for cognac and it was fine.

Warm Crab Parmesan Dip

Very tasty--I got rave reviews at a holiday function. I added some Old Bay seasoning and lemon juice to give it a little kick. Plus I used fresh crabmeat (no other option when you live on the Gulf Coast!).

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2004
My husband makes this and it is excellent. We omit the tomatoes and use fresh, chopped jalapenos instead of the canned ones. The canned ones tend to add too much spice as it sits.

4H Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2004
Excellent bread! My husband baked it and it still turned out good! It is very moist and the crust is soft after storing for a day. We didn't have nuts to put in it, but I know that would make it even better! We added 1 tsp vanilla but no cinnamon.

Brownie Mallow Bars

I love these bars! A girl at church brings these to functions often but will never share the recipe (yeah, I know). Now I've found it for myself and can enjoy them anytime I like! They are quick and easy.
