Toddler Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
Followed the recipe exactly except for using different baby food puree. I doubled the recipe and used a jar of cinnamon sweet potato puree and a jar of squash. They are wonderful. My 5 year old and 2 year old loved them. So did my husband and I.

Crispy Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
Good. Was very crispy and the breading stayed on well. I found the cooking time to be off. I didn't need the 30 minutes covered cooking time. I also didn't season the flour heavily enough. Will use this again.

Bev's Mac and Cheese

This was really easy and tasty too. Its always a pain to find good quick side dishes and this fits the bill. I made it exactly as the recipe indicated. A weeknight keeper.

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
This was really good. We only give it 4 stars because it was too lemony for us. But, I think this is because we followed the advice of other reviews and cooked the chicken in lemon juice rather than bake it. I will make it again, but cut the lemon.

Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
I wasn't terribly impressed with this recipe. It seemed to be lacking something. Perhaps it needed more banana flavor, I'm not sure. I made it as a loaf and also as muffins. The muffins were a little dense for muffins, but the taste was better.

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2007
absorbed the butter sauce tasted very yummy, but looked undercooked and had that texture. It was probably something I did. I followed the advice of others and added a bit of cinnamon to the sauce--yumm. And next time I will also follow the advice of making a slightly larger batch of sauce and drizzling it on top. Oh, and one piece of advice I didn't follow the first time I made this cake was to let it cool completely in the pan. Big mistake! I was too impatient and ended up with half a cake in the pan and half the cake on the platter. The second time around I let it cool and it only had minor stickage problems. Will make again.

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2007
This dish was a puzzler for us...at first we thought it was a bit odd (as we are not used to the spice combination), but it definitely grew on us. We ate the leftovers happily for dinner the next night and thought it improved upon sitting. Don't think I will add it to my normal rotation, but would make again for something out of the ordinary. I always love new and different dishes.

Chicken Katsu

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
This recipe was very good. I followed the advise of another reviewer and made the chicken into bite sized pieces and served over rice with a sweet and sour sauce. I found the cooking time and temperature to be right on--no burning panko crumbs here. The panko crumbs really make a difference. My only change next time will be to season the chicken and/or flour more. I have to say, overall delicious. I couldn't stop popping the left over chicken pieces into my mouth after dinner! Thanks for the recipe!

Spicy Pretzels

Great and easy. Took advice from another reviewer and baked for a few minutes at 250. They do have a kick, but we like that.

Easy, Cheesy Zucchini Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2007
We were not wild about this. It seemed to be missing something. I browned the turkey with onion, basil, garlic, etc AND added some noodles. Still kind of bland. I wouldn't make it again.

The Best Meatloaf I've Ever Made

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2007
This was delicious. We halved the recipe because there are only 2 of us, but I wish we hadn't! The only change we made was to use "meatloaf mix" rather than ground beef-yummm!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2005
Good cookie overall. Mine were too salty. Would reduce the salt next time. But, they had a beautiful shape and texture. Maybe a bit more peanut butter would help.
