I have decided to make Easter dinner this year. I can't even remember the last time I cooked on Easter. I have also decided to use only recipes from allrecipes (and my own Celebration Ham recipe). Check out my menu!
Cooking has been a fetish for me as long as I can remember. Before the inventions of all the various gagettes for cooking, I had a front row seat at my aunt and mother's tables. I watched every move they made while they cooked. When I was old enough, I was allowed to participate in the process--peeling potatoes, chopping onions and celery, slicing tomatoes, stirring the pot, etc. It was while observing that I learned the most about good old home cooking.
I learned that a dash of this, a handful of that truly made a dish unique. It was this cooking education that taught me how recipes were a "guide" to a delicious dish.
My favorite things to cook
I love fried chicken! It's my weakness, child!!! And pot roast, mac and cheese, meatloaf, roasted veggies!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking tradition is being an "eyeball" cook--use a basic recipe and tweak it. My family calls it "putting your foot in it".
My cooking triumphs
My biggest cooking triumph is when my "tweaked" dish is a hit. I love to hear how good it is and how it's "different" (in a good way).
My cooking tragedies
Thanksgiving dressing! It's always hit and miss! This is one recipe I make strictly by the recipe. Dinner rolls! Can you say hard as a rock?
