Lobster Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
Lobster is a little more plentiful since we have moved back east so I was looking for a lobster soup recipe like "momma" used to make. This is nothing like momma's, it's terrific. I made it exactly as directed and wouldn't change a thing. Thanks Dorothy!!!

Old-Fashioned Corn Relish

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
I just made this using 3 cups corn & 1 cup tomatoes. Absolutely delicious. Gave some away and my sister just called for the recipe as her husband finished the jar at suppertime. Thanks for the recipe!

Apple-Raisin French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
We loved this recipe. With only 2 of us, we halved the recipe and it came out great. I think I might add some pecans next time just for a variety, as it was great the way it was.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
While making this thought oh, oh too much sauce but used it anyway and was glad I did. The sauciness was great to heat leftovers as I find some lasagnas are too dry the next day. Did not have ricotta so used cottage cheese and extra mozzarella and spices. Great lasagna!!!

Mom's Best Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
Made this for a bbq, halved the recipe but shouldn't have. Everyone loved it. I always make the recipe exactly the way as written 1st time and then change as I see fit but would not change a thing with this, even adding the sugar. My mother raved over it and that's saying something. Thx for recipe!

Crab and Swiss Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
Absolutely delicious. In the midst of a winter storm I had a craving for quiche and found this one. Didn't have swiss so used cheddar & mozzarella. Read a review saying she made it without a crust and being lazy I did the same, spraying the dish slightly and added an extra egg. Can't wait to try it with swiss cheese. Thanks for recipe!!!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
I loved this. I only had a 1.4 kg. (3 lb.) roast so used 1 can of mushroom soup and 1/2 can of beef broth. I seared the roast first then added soup mixture to scrape up bits of brown. After roast was cooked I strained the juices and thickened with flour & water and had the best gravy ever. Thanks for this recipe!

Ham and Potatoes Au Gratin

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
Just a great, simple meal which my husband & I loved. Potatoes were a little undercooked so I may parboil next time. We also love lots of onion so sauted one onion and added in with roux. Leftovers heated up in microwave are #1 as well. Thanks for recipe!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Now that I am retired I finally got around to making a few recipes collected from this site. Have to say this one was A-1. We are living in a rural area and have just picked apples off trees at the side of the road for the pie and it turned out magnificent for our Thanksgiving dinner in Oct. Thank you for submitting this recipe and a special prayer for Grandma Ople.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Excellent pie. I took the advice of another cook and left the pie in the oven after turning it off 15-20 minutes. Worked perfectly. Thank you for this recipe.

I am not much of a sausage fan but my husband is so I tried this and was very delighted with it. We cut up the sausage and poured sauce & all over spaghetti. Excellent.

Oregon Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
Made recipe exactly as written. I used a spatula to put patties directly into hot frying pan as they were wet, and waited a few minutes before flipping. Turned out great. Will definitely make again but maybe try adding red pepper and Old Bay. I did sprinkle lemon juice on them after they were fried. Great recipe.

Four Cheese Macaroni Casserole

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
Loved this casserole. Only changes I made, 2-1/2 cups mac and because we love feta cheese, I used at least 1/2 cup. I am now printing this off for friends who tried it last night. Thanks.

Quick Chick!

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
We loved this recipe. I had homemade leftover chicken gravy which I used, forgetting that it was a little salty and used seasoning salt in the recipe. My fault entirely so will try it again very soon with low-sodium seasonings. I used 4-oz. breasts & cooked on high in slow cooker for 3 hours and it was perfect. Makes great hot chicken sandwiches. Thanks for the recipe!

Grilled Fish Steaks

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2009
Excellent! I used fresh haddock and placed them in aluminum pans to cook on the bbq. The fish flaked nicely so we just took it right from the pans. I enjoyed the taste immensely and can't wait for relatives to arrive this summer to try it out on them. Thanks for the recipe.
