About this Cook
I recently had a baby girl, so I am now a stay at home mom. I love to be at home and do things for my husband and baby. I was a teacher up until the end of last year. I taught music for grades pre-k through 8. I really enjoy teaching and plan to go back to it someday.
My favorite things to cook
I really like to cook Mexican food, and I love to bake. I started baking when I was little because I wanted to be Anne of Green Gables, and she was always bringing people cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom and dad both cook really well, and we all pitch in at Thanksgiving. I have never had a better Thanksgiving dinner than when I've been in NY. At Christmas we have funny foods like hot dogs because my grandma would rather spend time with her family than take a lot of time cooking. I admire her priorities, and it's the best day of the year.
My cooking triumphs
My quesadillas are really good, but I am best at baking. Things almost always turn out. I make a huge breakfast on Christmas morning that is always really good.
My cooking tragedies
None so far! I'm sure I'm due for one. :)

Best Marinara Sauce Yet
I make this all the time, and it is great! I do make a few changes, but nothing that changes the nature of the recipe. I don't use the parsley because I never have fresh parsley. Instead of just oregano I do 1/2 tsp oregano and a 1/2 tsp basil. I also add about 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes. I use about 1/2 the olive oil and 1/2 the amount of wine as well. We use this as is, or sometimes we add meat to it. Either way, it is delicious. No jarred sauce for us ever again!

Best Brownies
This is a very good brownie recipe. I have to disagree with the people who say that they come out cake-like. Maybe those people are baking them for too long. The only change I make is to use half brown and half white sugar. Also, I add about a 1/3 cup of chocolate chips and leave off the frosting. We love these brownies! My husband requests them all the time.

Sweet Potato Casserole IV
This is the sweet potato casserole I make for Thanksgiving. I have been making it for about 5 years. Everyone loves it!! I don't change anything. Even my grandma, a declared sweet potato hater, loves this casserole! Try it!
