Vanilla Glaze

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2010
Super easy & very good. I used whole milk and maybe double what the recipe called for, I just kept adding a little until I got the consistency I wanted. We drizzled over lemon cupcakes.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Obviously very easy! Taste was good but not something I would want too often, a little too sweet for me.

German Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
I had a couple of bags of shredded potato that I needed to use and came across this recipe. My husband really liked them with some eggs for breakfast. Good and pretty easy.

Carrot Cake Cookies

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
These were not what I expected, I don't think they should be called "cookies". Don't know that I would make them again.

Basic Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2010
Even the kids ate it! After cooking the beef, I drained it & rinsed it to get some of the fat off. Then I added onions, garlic & black beans to the ground beef. I let that cook for a few minutes then added the sauce, let that come to a simmer then combined it all. I added some mozzarella to the mix then the rest on top. Great! Just don't know what to serve on the side (no one was in the mood for salad, had it for lunch!).

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
Awesome. I used marsala wine rather than regular white (our favorite place uses marsala in their sauce so I figured I would give it a try) and it was a little over a half cup. Also added probably a teaspoon of white sugar. When sauteing the onions I let them sit for a bit, they were just about caramelized; I didn't use 6 tbsp of oil either, it was probably 2 or 3. I made the sauce, simmered for at least 30 min., cooled it down then heated it back up at dinner time. I think it really gave the flavors time to meld. Next time I will blend the tomatoes a little better, I like a thinner sauce. I made chicken parm to go with the sauce & my father in law said it was the best he ever had.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
I made this exactly as written. When I combined all the ingredients, I left the mixer on for a few minutes to get it really whipped. Not bad, not the best recipe in the world but it's so easy you can't really complain.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
Great! Nice & easy too. I just chopped some onions & garlic then opened up some cans and threw in the chicken, doesn't get much easier. I added cheddar on top and made corn bread on the side. For the leftovers I put them into a muffin tin so that I can just grab the amount I want.

Easy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
These are good but not outstanding. They are a little bland. I didn't use butter or chocolate chips but added lots of dried fruit, sesame seeds & flax seed. I will make again because I would rather feed my kids these than the store bought kind.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
I love this! I omitted the hot sauce because of the kids (I think I would love it) & tossed the chicken in flour, salt & pepper. I cranked the neat on my pan to get it super hot, added the oil then cooked the chicken in two batches. I added it all back in at the end, poured the sauce over the top & added sesame seeds. Even the kids ate it & they won't eat much. I served it with brown rice and steamed broccoli.

Smushed Apples and Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
Awesome!! Easy too. I boiled the sweet potatoes then drained them, I left them in the strainer while I sauteed the apples. Next time I think I could even skip the butter & use a little apple juice. Then I mashed it all together, put it in an 8x8 baking dish, sprinkled a little brown sugar on top & baked for 15 minutes at 375. Didn't need the sugar but it was good! I will ABSOLUTELY make this again.

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
these were OK. I made with all chocolate rather than butterscotch chips. They were sort of grainy in texture, not sure why. ALso, I'm not sure what the marshmellows added, I couldn't really taste them.

I made this with reduced fat sour cream and kept everything else the same. It's awesome!! It just barely fit in my KitchenAid.

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
This was good but had a very strong onion taste. I am not an onion fan but everyone else really liked it. I omitted the sausage and used pre-shredded potatoes. I cooked the potato layer the night before then added the egg mixture on top and put into the fridge overnight. I let it sit out for a bit in the morning before putting it in the oven. Came out fine. I will make this again because it was easy and most people seemed to like it. I might try without the onion.

Orange-Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
Yum!! I made the ham for a brunch & wanted to do as much prep as possible the night before so I made it the night before then used it with no problem the next day. I will absolutely be using this again. Everyone kept saying how good the ham was.
