Grilled Shrimp and Apple Skewers

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2013
Very good, but the sauce is soooo sweet (and I used unsweetened jam). I would suggest cutting down on the honey by about ? (the fact that the apples marinate with the shrimps adds lots of sweetness to the marinade). Otherwise the taste was good!

Apple Turnovers

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
Tasted ok, but made a mess in my oven. Wasn't able to close the turnovers properly because the apple mixture was too liquid and running all over the place. In the end I had a big mess of apples and caramel with pastry stuck to my baking sheet, but taste good anyways. I would suggest cutting the apples into very small pieces and making a thick caramel before adding the apples to the pan so the mixture might run less and actually stay inside the puff pastry while cooking.

Sesame Shrimp Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
Very good!! I added a bunch more vegetables though (carrots, brocoli, cauliflower and mushrooms). I made my own teriyaki sauce and put much much more than the recipe said however (almost 3 times more) and it tasted great. I also had to use about double the cornstarch because I found the sauce was too liquid. Everyone really like it!!

Thai-Style Peanut Sauce with Honey

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
Amazing !!! Used it to marinate shrimp for a stir-fry. Very tasty!! If you're going to use it for cooking though, I would suggest adding just a bit of water because it becomes super thick in the pan, but the taste is really good. Everyone loved it!!!

Julene's Spelt Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
Very very dry. The first batch I did, I forgot to put the cookies on the lower rack for the first 5 min and cooked them the entire 10 min on the upper rack and they came out ok (but very dry as I already mentioned). For the second batch I did what the recipe said and cooked them on the lower rack the first 5 min and then on the upper rack for the last 5 min and they ended up burnt on the bottoms. I would suggest making sandwich cookies with these and filling the middle with fig jam or mashed dates to add a bit of wet to them. Also, if I were to redo them, I would only cook them on the upper rack for 8 min to keep them a bit more moist.
