Tomato Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2015
This soup was surprisingly yummy! I never enjoyed tomato soup so much! I did make 5 convenient changes. I used tomato sauce instead of diced tomatoes. I omitted the sugar and onions(neither on hand) and instead added onion powder. I normally prefer cooking with real onions but I like my tomato soup super smooth. I also omitted the baking soda. And finally, I added only 1/4 cup heavy cream instead of 2 cups. I could not believe how delicious this soup was! I am making it again tonight! When I make it this way, it yields exactly 2 nice bowls full.

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2014
I used thick bacon just like the recipe called for BUT after 15 minutes they weren't done enough. I put them in for another 5 minutes and it was pretty good then. So I would CHANGE IT TO 20 MINUTES INSTEAD OF 10-15. It was so easy and nice not to splatter oil on the stove or on me and not get the frying pan out and then have to watch it. A great way to save time is to freeze the bacon after you cook it like this. When you need a bit of cooked bacon for say a burger, breakfast taco or baked potato then voila! There it is!

Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2014
My guests ate it and liked it. I was very disappointed with this recipe. It was my first time making a dump cake so I didn't realize you actually don't need to stir up the fruit with the cake mix the way this recipe instructs you to(as well as the accompanying video). A friend previously made a dump cake with these same ingredients but their recipe had better directions and it was so delicious! For the best dump cake you should not stir the cake mix in with the fruit. Also, it needs to cook at least 50 minutes not 35. Instead of melting the butter, drop bits of it all over the top before putting it in the oven. I recommend cherry pineapple cabana dump cake on AllRecipes.com. This recipe correctly instructs you to dump the cake mix and smooth the top NOT STIR IT IN!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2014
This is my go-to recipe for brownies. But for the first time I also made the frosting and it came to perfect consistency which is delicious with honey. My husband loves it!

My Favorite Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2014
Me and my choosy husband liked it. I used fresh minced onion and added a little minced green bell pepper. It was good but my husband still prefers Manwich. This is a nice substitute if I don't have that sauce on hand. Thank you.

E-Z Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2014
Turned out good. I added a cup of cheese. I cooked on a light color sheet for 12 minutes at 450 and came out pretty white. I liked them better cooked another 2 minutes to get that golden color.

Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
Fool-proof Recipe! I made these to give to someone else for their birthday. They loved them! People were asking for the recipe. It tastes delicious! It was so easy! I microwaved for 3 minutes without stirring in between and put pecan pieces on top. I also made it without the butter and added a pinch of salt. They came out almost identical but I think I prefer with butter. But the two are so similar that I'm really not sure because I don't even think I can tell them apart. I put one in a 17x12(lined with greased wax paper in a metal pan) and one in an 8x8 greased glass. I lifted the wax paper off and the pieces are very thin but they cut beautifully! I tried to make old fashioned fudge first(with cocoa) and I ended up with ice-cream topping. I eventually want to master it but I didn't have time to mess around so I found this easy recipe and it worked like a charm but the real version would be a money-saver as well as a recipe that is easy to make with ingredients already on hand.

Swiss Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
This recipe is spectacular when prepared right. Double the soup and butter or else the cornbread stuffing will not soften. And cook 20 minutes long because mine came out still pink in the middle of the pan. I made it with 2 chicken breasts the first time and it came out as perfection. The next time I used 4 chicken breasts(each cut into 3 pieces and evenly laid out in pan) and had problems with the stuffing being too hard and had to drizzle water all over the top and stick in the oven for 5 minutes longer. My husband loves this and we had guests that night and both guests and my husband went back for seconds! Other than that all is well! Bon appetite! I love this recipe!

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Delicious and flavorful! This is definitely going to be one of my holiday staples. This was my first time making a roll. The video helped immensely. It turned out exquisite. My guests said that it should be in a magazine! It was easy and so fun!

Bev's Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2013
It tasted great but it was too goopy and there was some oily liquid that would not mix into the pasta mixture no matter how I tried to fold or stir it in. Maybe next time would be better if, like some other reviews said, if I added more milk, less flour, whisked every one minute or tried it on the stove top. I tried it in the microwave because I needed to make it fast and couldn't wait to bake it. This turned out to be satisfactory quick fix. Thanks for the recipe.
