Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
Just like at a restaurant. I used dark brown sugar but next time I think light brown would look better. My family ate them up!

Simple Oven Fries

Pretty good! I have to cook mine a little longer to get them crispier. I also added a little more salt.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2007
This was easy and pretty good although I thought my meat was a little dry. I am going to blame it on the cut though and try again. Served on toasted hoagies with provolone and au jus on the side, next time will have some horseradish.

Tonkatsu - Asian-Style Pork Chop

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2007
Good! These chops were crispy and crunchy and moist. Cut into strips and served with sweet and sour for my kids and they ate them up! I agree that the batter needs some spicing up but a great starting place and a good kid friendly mid week meal.

Mexican Lasagna II

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
Here is what I did- and its a keeper! I sauteed onion with the ground beef. Then added the taco mix, refried beans, one can rotel, and one can mexicorn. Layered tortillas with meat mixture and cheese, and then baked. Topped with onions, tomatoes, black olives, and avocado. Served with sour cream and salsa on the side! My family loved it!

Strawberry Muffins

My kids ate these but if i make them again I need to change a few things, perhaps the amount of milk or the amount of flour.

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2007
Excellent! Didn't change a thing. Works best with the actual thinner flank steak cut.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2007
This wasn't bad, it just wasn't unbelievable either. There are other marinades out there that are better.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
The only change I made to this recipe was to half it and I omitted the nuts. As for the taste they were great! But like a few other reviewers they were flat and fell apart easily. Next time I think I will add a little more flour.

Laura's Unbelievable Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
I gave this 4 stars because I agree with other reviewers, it is a great starting point. Here is what I did- sauteed the cut up chicken in a little olive oil and chopped fresh garlic with salt and pepper. Then simmered in the chicken broth, added the cream cheese, added a box of creamed spinach instead of plain, and followed it up with a can of diced tomatoes. It made ALOT! But my kids enjoyed it, top with a little parmesean and it is a good weeknight meal. Good luck!

Simple Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
Here are the changes I made: I used ground turkey, only 1 box of creamed spinach, and ricotta instead of cottage cheese. Because of those changes, this version tasted pretty close to the meat lasagna with red sauce I make. However it gets 4 stars because my kids liked it even with the spinach!

Get a Husband Brunswick Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
This was great and tasted pretty darn close to what we used to get in GA! Warning, it is extremely filling so i ended up freexing half of the recipe. The good news is it still tasted great! When looking for a good, hearty stew this is a keeper!

Pork Chop and Feta Skillet

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
This was just okay, I used center cut chops and they were a little tough. Might give this recipe another shot with a different cut of pork or chicken.

Blue Cheese, Bacon and Chive Stuffed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2007
I would give this 3 and a half stars if I could. I pan fried the chops instead of baking them and I will admit they were a little tough. If I did make this again I would change the stuffing like other reviewers suggest.

Crispy Baked Oatmeal

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2007
I know the recipe says "crispy" but I think I was still expecting somewhat of an oatmeal consistency. To me this is more like granola. My kids enjoyed it because it was like eating cookies for breakfast. If I do make this again it will definitely not be for breakfast.

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2006
We call this recipe "bark" at my house too. It was given to me by my sister-in-law after I munched on it during a holiday dinner. Since then I have made it over and over, given as gifts for teachers and for my husband's co-workers. Just a little tidbit- it is so easy to change up. Use white chocolate and crushed peppermint candies for Christmas. Dark chocolate and walnuts, milk chocolate with caramel, the possibilties are limitless!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2006
This was yummy! I didn't change a thing and my family enjoyed it. I think for next time I will try a few mods, mostly trying to lighten it up a bit. Healthy Choice soup, lighter cream cheese. And I might try cutting up my chicken into strips or chunks. But a keeper and I will make again!

Strawberry Vanilla Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
These pancakes were great! I followed the recipe EXACTLY and they turned out sweet and fluffy. I agree with others that the batter seemed a little thin but once I got them in the pan they fluffed right up! A real hit with my kids!
