Flank Steak Pinwheels

Reviewed: May 1, 2005
This was very tasty and made an excellent presentation for my dinner party. I did make a few changes. I used a garlic and herb cream cheese in place of the garlic and feta cheese. I also just realized that I forgot the bread crumbs, which I will use next time, but certainly weren't missed! Will definitely make again! Thanks.

Pancakes I

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2005
These are always a big hit. I used to buy the boxed pancakes, where you just add water. My husband grudgingly agreed this morning, these homemade ones are way better. Obviously!

Chicken Papadoris

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2005
I gave this a four-star rating, only because I made modifications that made it really very good. Based on other people's reviews,,and knowing that my husband and I like food with a lot of "zip", I did the following: added a dash of red pepper flakes, chilli paste, and a dash of more soy sauce. I did that after I followed the recipe, tasted the broth, and found it kind of bland. I also omitted the cornstarch step, and instead, let the broth boil down for at least 20 minutes or so, mainly because my daughter was late coming home for dinner! But I think this helped the ingredients blend more, and therefore, was quite tasty! I will make this again for sure. Thanks!

I only had 1 cup of bananas,,so I halved the recipe, and it was still delicious. Thanks!

Tomato Sauce with Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2005
This was delicious! I like that there a not that many ingredients. I've always been "sauce" challenged, but this was great. I just made a few changes: I omitted the paste, used crushed tomatoes instead of whole peeled ones, and added just a touch of oregano. Beautiful!

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2005
This was a wonderful-tasting chicken. I didn't "kabob" them, I marinated pounded chicken breasts in the oil, honey, soy and garlic for the day. Then I baked them in the oven, with a side of fried rice. I'm sure it will be even better on the grill, but in this freezing cold weather, the oven sounded pretty good! Thanks! I will make again.

Glo's Sausage Fried Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2005
I made this as a side dish,,therefore, I omitted the sausage. But it was wonderful..great advice on chilling the rice and cooking the egg separately. Also, I didn't have cabbage, so I ommitted it. Thats the great thing about fried rice, add whatever you have on hand. Next time I'll add the sausage, I'm sure it will be even more amazing. Thanks!

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2005
I made these for guests a day and a half in advance, because I had a crazy day and knew I wouldn't have much time to prepare a meal. I thought the taste was good, but they were a bit dry for me.

House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2005
This recipe has definite possibilities. I would agree that the rice needs to be chilled first. Mine was mushy because I didn't chill it. Also, I would increase the eggs, but also cook them separately, then add them. I will make again with these changes.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2005
These cookies are easy to make and delicious too! I'm on a mission to cut out store-bought treats for my kids, so this recipe is a welcome addition to my favorites. I didn't change a thing, made the whole recipe, cooked half, froze the other half in little balls to be used another time. Thanks!!!

Thai Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2005
This was pretty tasty,,I used peanut oil instead of olive oil and brown rice. I did find it very salty, and will make again using low-sodium soy. Thanks!

Hot Fudge Ice Cream Bar Dessert

Everyone loved this dessert,,most had seconds. I skipped the peanuts, figured the kids wouldn't like them, and it didn't seem like anything was missing. Just great,,thanks!

Asian Fire Meat

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2005
I thought this was great,,my husband thought the soy really dominated the recipe,,and I thought the sesame was strong. We both liked the amount of spice,,,Next time,,I'll cut back a little on the soy, a little on the sesame, and maybe add a little more brown sugar. Was good and will make again. Thanks!

General Tsao's Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2005
This is a great starting point recipe, that has lots of potential. Unfortunately, I didn't heed the warnings of others, and used the recommended amount of cornstarch. Way too much! The sauce thickened so quickly I had to add over a cup of water just to get it edible, which probably cut down on the flavors. Next time I'll use a fraction of what the recipe says. Otherwise not bad!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2005
I agree with everyone! It was excellent...I will also add more garlic because we love it and although we could smell it cooking, wasn't very strong tasting. I would also add something to the breading next time as it was slightly bland for us, though we tend to like things "zippy"...Can't wait to have again..Thanks!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2005
My family LOVED this sauce! We have been in toronto for three years, and haven't been able to find any pizza places that compare to what we were used to in the States. This sauce was it! We tend to like sweeter sauces, so I used what the recipe called for. I'll definitely make this one again! Thanks!

This was great! I omitted the orange zest, cut back a little on the ginger. I also added red pepper flakes to add a little spice. PERFECT! I'll make again! Thanks
