Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2004
I am a first time crust maker and this was very easy to make and work with. Turned out great (flaky and tasty) for apple pie. I did use less water as suggested by others who left reviews. I also rolled out on wax paper which makes it very easy to transfer to the pie plate. Thanks so much!!

Apple Crunch Pie I

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2004
This is absolutely wonderful pie. This is the first time that I've made an entire pie from scratch (crust and all). I used half granny smith and half jonagolds since they are fresh this time of year. There were so many apples that it seemed like too many but they shrunk down and the crust was perfectly filled. It cut beautifully too. Everyone was happy. Wouldn't change a thing!!!

Mary's Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2004
This is my absolute favorite recipe for sugar cookies. This is the exact recipe that I got from my mother years ago. Except we frost our cookies with a powdered sugar tinted glaze. We make them for all holidays!! Glad that it's here and hope you will try it too!!!

Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2004
This is a great recipe!! I did not add the 1/4 cup water to the berries, just used the oj and the water that was mixed with the cornstarch. Also used "sugar lite" in the same proportion as the sugar. Used berries that I had picked and frozen this last summer. Turned out wonderful. Ate it on cheesecake and refrigerated the leftovers.

Delicious Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2004
These are the best peanut butter cookies ever. This is the same recipe my family has used forever. They are soft and chewy. I do roll these in one inch balls and criss cross them with a fork dipped in sugar. Perfect everytime. No need to look further!!

Banana Muffins I

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2004
This is not a bad recipe for muffins, but not the best either. I did change it a bit though so may not be completely accurate. I used about a half cup of oatmeal in place of a quarter of cup of flour. I added a quarter teas of almond extract along with the vanilla. And I sprinkled the tops with a little cinnamon and sugar. Turned out pretty good:)

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2004
Delicious!! I changed a few things but kept most the same. I used reduced fat cream of mushroom and one can reduced fat cream of chicken. Then I followed the recipe exactly. For the dumplings I used reduced fat bisquick. The whole thing was great and very very low in fat. It does make a lot though. In the future I might make a half batch. Certainly worth making again.

Impossible Pumpkin Pie II

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
We are very happy with this recipe. I actually made a few changes to decrease the fat. I used reduced fat bisquick, fat free evaporated milk, 3 egg whites instead of the 2 eggs. It turned out excellent. We topped it with fat free cool whip. For about 3 gms of fat per slice it really hit the spot. As the other person states there is no crust per say. But who cares??!!

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
Very good recipe. I used the suggestions by others to use the 1 cup PB, 2 cup brown sugar (not packed) and the 3 cups sifted powdered sugar. I also used the electric mixer. Turned out great. Not grainy like many home made fudges seem to be. Very smooth and perfect peanut butter flavor. Have made several times already. Thank you.

Extra Easy Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
Okay this may sound obvious but this tastes very much like frosting! I do like it and it is easy but it is not as much like fudge as I was hoping. Will I make it again: Maybe, if I need something fast, I usually have the ingredients on hand.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2004
Very tasty. I cut the cherries in half because they seemed too big but now I wish I would've left them whole. My son and I finished off the left over "frosting" right out of the pan!! Bake up beautifully. Great christmas cookie recipe.

Sweet Pretzel Stacks

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2004
I also used this recipe to "use up" some sweetened condensed milk from another recipe. I used the regular mini pretzal twists and broke them into smaller pieces (not crushed). I had no butterscotch chips so I used vanilla instead and I did go with the 1/2 cup of peanuts. I certainly agree that this is much easier than the task of dipping pretzals individually. When I make again I will be probably use peanut butter chips and will increase the peanuts even a little more. Thanks for the recipe!!

Spinach Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2004
Very tasty. I also changed the name when presenting them to "spinach bars." I had quite a few people ask for the recipe. I used 1/4 cup butter and added some cooked and crumbled bacon. Thanks

Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
These are pretty good biscuits. I usually make frozen ones but decided to give these a shot. Worked well for biscuits and gravy. I will probably keep using the frozen ones however.

Sausage Gravy I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
Very good and easy homemade sausage gravy. I used italian sausage because I had it left over from lasagna. I had to bacon grease so I did use shortning. I think a little more pepper or maybe some tabasco are in order. But overall great recipe.

Perfectly Chocolate Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2004
Easy yet great tasting. I think it is creamier than traditional cocoa mix but then again I did splurge and use whole milk. Also added marshmallows to the top (can't be cocoa without the marshmallows.)

Buckeye Cookies III

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
YUMMY!! Very good. Couldn't find my peanut butter ball recipe so used this. Everyone loved them. I used 3T parafin melted with 2 bags choc chips. I'm sure it would also work wonderfully with chocolate almond bark as coating (all the stores were out for christmas so I will try it this way next time) I did mix with an electric mixer and it didn't seem like they would stick together but they did. Perfect. Thanks!

Shrimp Fra Diavolo

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
Good for such a simple recipe to prepare. Will definately make again, next time I will not use the full amount of red pepper flakes. It was a bit too spicy (and I like spicy). Thanks for the recipe.

Split Pea Soup Atu

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2005
We really liked it. We love pea soup anyway. I didn't add all the water and added none of the milk. We wanted a thick soup. I also went without the potatoes to save on carbs. Very good none the less. No one would have guessed that it had the soy sauce and the pepper flakes. Will make again.

Chicken Scampi I

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2005
We liked it but it was not "the best." Served over brown rice, we are avoiding pasta right now because we are dieting (again). Would like to try it again over pasta. The marinade did boil down to like nothing so it wasn't much of a sauce, may double next time. Had good flavor though and was something different. Would probably be good served on a salad! Thanks
