Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2005
We really loved this roast but I did alter a little:) I never browned it which next time I may do. I forgot the onion but with the onion soup mix it wasn't a big deal. I also added a can of cream of mushroom soup. It gives it just a little bit more YUM! Anyway all in all I love any slow cooked roast but this is good and no tomatoes (my husband doesn't like them).

Cheddar and Bacon Log

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2005
Yummy cheese ball I doubled the bacon and really think it could even use some more. Or maybe the next time I make it I'll use little packets of ham like my other recipe uses. I did use sharp cheddar cause I like the extra bite. Considered doubling but glad I didn't since it made a pretty big cheeseball. One of our guests asked to take the leftovers home so obviously it was liked!

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2005
Very good dip. I used a whole 8oz can of water chestnuts and a full 10oz box of spinach. The leek flavor is great with the crunch of the water chestnuts. I did serve in a large pumpernickle bowl and it filled it perfectly I also added some dry little bread crisps. Very yummy!!

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2005
These were pretty tasty. I did like the heat from the cayenne. Used 36 mushrooms but only half the stems and kept everything else the same. I'm thinking that they would be better with some dry bread crumbs on top like suggested by another reviewer. Thanks I'll probably try it that way in the future.

Bourbolicious

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2005
I made this for a xmas cocktail party and it was a BIG hit. I used two cups of bourbon. Personally bourbon is not my favorite but this drink is awesome. We put some of the slush in a glass and then fill with 7UP yummy Will make again. I'm sure it's great in the summer. Oh I did freeze for two days as a friend suggested and I did check it after one day and it had not frozen enough. So you may want to make ahead two days. Thanks

Chili Cheese Dip I

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2005
Good dip. I'm always afraid to use cream cheese in recipes for my inlaws side of the family cause they swear they "hate it" but they came for xmas and they ate it up and no one even questioned. I do think that it could use some jalepenos or something to give it more zip but then again some people just don't like heat. Thanks so much.

Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2005
This is one of my favorite cookies. I've never made them myself but I don't think the recipe could be better. They are melt in your mouth delicious. I overbaked the last sheet (forgot about it cause I was too busy testing the others:) but it didn't seem to matter much. Very yummy I will be making these again, maybe even before christmas!!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2005
Not sure that I can give this an accurate review since I realized at the last second that I didn't have curry. Oh well I went ahead and made it anyway using half the amt of butter, thighs and legs and added some seasoned salt. I also lined the pan with foil because I hate clean up. So, although I didn't think it was the best my husband complimented me on it, he even ate the skin which has been a no no in this house for a while. Oh well he was happy:) Thanks for the recipe. Maybe will make again with some curry.

Chocolate Meringue Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2005
Made exactly per recipe. Turned out great. I dusted the tops with a little more cocoa to make them pretty. Very easy and worth a try. I've always been a little scared of meringues but will definately make again. Oh and everyone wanted the recipe and were impressed that they were diet friendly!!

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2005
Great stuff, I can actually eat it by the spoonful. Not too sweet but I still like to add some lime juice as it rounds it out a little better:) YUM

Spaghetti Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
This is pretty tasty. My very picky about "spaghetti" husband even liked it. I used extra lean ground beef, lowfat cottage cheese and used ready made sauce because this is a weeknight and I was a little lazy. Oh and no green peppers for this family! Guess that's all. It's worth a shot. Will probably make again but not often. Thanks.

New York Cheesecake II

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2005
Perfect cheesecake. Now I have made a lot of cheesecakes but this is not only simple but probably one of the creamiest I've ever made. This is my suggestion for baking because 400 is going to give you a burned cake... No water bath as water baths often end up with a soggy crust and soggy crust is worse than a crack any day... Just simply bake the cake at 400 for 10min, then without opening the oven door reduce the temp to 200 than continue to bake for about 45 min, until it's almost completely set. Then I turn the oven off and just let it set in there til the oven is cool. Usually about an hour and a half to two hours. Then refrigerate it overnight. I'm telling you this is the best way to do it. There will be no crack and it will look a creamy off white. There ya have it. Oh and I also beat my ingredients with a mixer for close to 10 min. I have found it also makes a difference. Thanks.

Scrumptious Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2005
Very good. I followed the recipe exactly except for the addition of a teas of lemon extract with the vanilla. I think that's a good combo. Anyway I had to cook it a little longer than specified but I loved it. Even a few sweet potato "haters" were brave enough to try it and reported it was good. I did have two people though that said it was "too sweet" but hey there is a lot of sugar so it could easily be cut down. Thanks for the recipe!!

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
We thought that this was good. Very easy to make. I don't think the ketchup was overpowering at all. We served it over rice. I did half the crushed red pepper for husband and two picky kids. It was still "hot" enough. Thanks.

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2005
We think this is pretty good sauce, very simple. We made homemade pizza dough in the breadmaker and needed something quick for sauce. It makes a lot so we had pizza again after a few days but that's okay cause we like pizza!!

Ricardo's Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2005
We loved this. Used fresh garlic. Do not prebake and do not cook at 475 or it will burn. I reduced the temp after a few minutes and still the bottom was burned a little, oh well tasted great. we really liked the sugar and noted that some people didn't so add it and see what you think:) thanks for the recipe

Barbeque Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
I left out the water as other reviews indicated the sauce was too thin. I also used only 6 thighs, I think that it would be too little sauce if I used all 12. Sauce still thin but tasty! We will make again.

Blueberry Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2005
Great Pie!! I used a refrigerated crust and frozen berries that we picked last summer. Had to cook for nearly double the time specified becaues of the frozen berries. I did also use cornstarch instead of flour because I like my pie to really set up. Love the crumb topping may add walnuts next time. Thanks.

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2005
My whole family loved these "fries." Nice and easy to make. I didn't bother peeling, just cleaned, cut and shook in a bag with seasonings. I used a foil lined pan for easy clean up and flipped after about 25 min. They were perfect. I didn't have any onion powder but can't imagine that they could be better so who cares!

Buffalo Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2005
My family really likes these. A great healthy way to make chicken. Yes, I'd prefer them spicier but we have two kids that would've been upset if they had any more heat. When I make them again I may try the saltines just for a change. Thanks.
