Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2004
This recipe is awesome! I've made it a couple times and the only thing I do different is add a little red bell pepper. It does make a lot more mix than what your average shrooms can hold, so get the big ones!

Onion Strips

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2004
If you're looking for foccacia, this isn't it! But it's quite yummy, and with the sweet onions, surprisingly mild. My onion-hater went back for more!

Won Ton Snacks

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2004
I added some fresh ginger, sugar and sherry to taste, because the meat mixture seemed a little too dry, even after the peanut sauce. That gave it a little more of the potsticker flavor I expected.

Flan II

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2005
I admit it, I'm a Flan Fan. The recipe has potential and definitely need a tsp of vanilla. If you make it in one big pan, I think it needs to cook longer, 40 minutes can give you a soggy mess. This is good, not too sweet.

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes and Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2005
This smells wonderful while baking! Had to cook the potatoes an extra 10 minutes, but everyone loved it! Something different for asparagus!

Praline Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
Blech! Better luck to others! The concept worked for me, but in reality the burnt sugar sticking to th sides of the pan really blew it for me. followed by trying to turn it out onto a tray--- not pretty! The batter didn't spread well over the praline mix, but I'll take the blame for that; I used medium eggs instead of large.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
Loved the way these cookies turned out, no puffing, so they stayed right on the sil-pat---cutout to oven, just like that. They didn't stick too much, and I only let them chill about an hour after splitting them into (3) balls. My only complaint was after doubling the recipe it only made about 48 snowflake cookies (3").

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2007
This recipe is awesome! I was strong armed into making it for an employee commitee function and it was a huge hit. I like it with (2) packs of the 3.5oz pudding (4 cups of milk)-- it cuts a little of the sweetness (Not too much!)

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
the first ganache I have ever tried, and I felt like a rockstar! I was always intimidated before, but now I know there is nothing to fear. The bittersweet chocolate is the perfect foil for a sweet buttercream. (The glossy finish totally camouflaged what may actually be a questionable cake.) I can't wait to make truffles with this!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2007
Had to rate this recipe 4 stars, as I didn't follow it exactly. The base was excellent, used broth/water mixture to boil veggies/chicken, then used what was drained in the sauce. Used Herbs de Provence instead of celery seed, and would have wanted to use more salt as the overall needed more. Also, if you add extra veggies, ie; potatoes, mushrooms... cut back on portions as it will definitely overflow a frozen deep dish crust.

Crab Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
Crab and fish good... Crab and chicken bad. In theory this sounds good, but getting down to the eating- I don't like it. But KUDOS to the first person that melted swiss cheese on the top of chicken. That's tasty. Trust me on this- there is nothing wrong with the recipe, it just doesn't taste good!

Autumn Apple Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
We put this together last minute for a pre-Thanksgiving get together. YUM!!! Now it was still juicy because we hadn't realized it should refrigerate for four hours. The reception was fantastic!

Curried Wild Rice and Squash Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
really did not like the orange aftertaste, the entire recipe seemed to be missing something, and as delish as the curry smelled, it did't really make the soup. This is one in the "no" column for me.

Washabinaros Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
This chili leaves a good and not unpleasant afterburn. Surprising after the list of peppers. I thought the sugar was just right, and used a porter for the dark beer. No single flavor seemed to stand out and they melded together perfectly. I'll let you know how it ages.

Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Delish!!! Doubled up on everything (no water chestnuts) for a work fundraiser. The curry really makes it. I was suprised that there was no call for onions or garlic... so I cooked my chicken in diced onions and used a cream of mushroom with roasted garlic soup instead of one of the cream of chicken cans. With or without changes or mushrooms, this is comfort food!!

Pork Chalupas

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
My sister-in-law came by this recipe twenty years ago. It replaced chili in her household as the go to Game Day food! It smells so good, my mouth is watering from the memory! We always use this over chips covering it with sour cream and cheese....mmmmmm!

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
I keep kicking myself for using an Indian recipe that called for cinnamon! That was all I could taste, even with the heat of the other spices. We strained the chicken out of the sauce, so it was still edible, but otherwise we were not pleased!

Vegetable Masala

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Ohhh, this is truly good stuff. We always serve it with naan and jasmine or basmati rice. Just be sure to cut vegetables very small, nothing turns you off more than crunching where it doesn't belong.

Pesto Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
I had to make my own pesto, which could have been a disaster, but mixed well with the spinach mixture. The jar of Alfredo was far too salty and although it's a nice shortcut, a homemade bechamel would have served better. I used 15oz of ricotta, and it turned out well, I wouldn't be shy to use the recommended 30oz. It's worth keeping to try a few different things.

Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
I used this recipe because I thought baking would enhance the crispy/saucy flavor. WRONG! Frying is certainly the way to go--- all the way! The sauce totally lost itself after baking and I'll bet it wouldn't have if I hadn't baked them. But as everyone else has said, the bleu cheese dip is uber yummy!
