About this Cook
I am 29 years old. I've been married since February 10, 2007. My husband is the most important person in my life. I love him with all my heart and am so thankful for his selfless love for me!!! :-) We are expecting our first child in August! I'm from a family of 11. 7 brothers and 1 sister. I have a passion for cooking/baking! I do catering and cake decorating out of my home. I also enjoy reading, traveling and shopping!
My favorite things to cook
Well...I like to cook most anything! But I'll choose a few favorites: Anything with Pumpkin, Cheesecake, Homemade bread w/ fresh ground flour, Pasta, Soup and Chowder, Salads and homemade Dressings, Fluffy Biscuits...and Marionberry Pie!
My favorite family cooking traditions
For Thanksgiving and Christmas breakfast we almost always make a Baked Omelet and Sour Cream Coffeecake. The only other traditions I can think of are: We make 99 percent of our meals from scratch. We couldn't live without our homemade, light/fluffy, fresh ground, whole wheat bread. We have a garden and do as much canning as we can
My cooking triumphs
Probably my number 1 cooking triumph is my Whole Wheat Bread. When people taste it, they can't believe it's 100% whole wheat. We grind our own grain and that is what makes the difference in texture, density and weight. Other than that, I guess I would say that my custom cakes have been a success. Most people think my decorated cakes are homemade. But I've learned a few tricks to making cake mixes really yummy! I also came up with a buttercream frosting recipe that doesn't have a shortening taste.
My cooking tragedies
I made a from scratch Angel Food cake one time. I did everything the recipe said, but when I took it out of the oven it didn't look that great. Then while it was cooling propped upside down, it fell out of the pan. The guys who ate it thought it tasted great! For awhile I had problems making yeast breads (other than my whole wheat bread). It seems I was always doing something too hot or too cold and wrecking the yeast. Finally I got it right and am enjoying lots of yeast bread recipes!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
I do not see how this recipe could be improved on in any way. They are perfection! I used a hand mixer to do all the stirring. I used a little less cinnamon than it called for. The cookies turned out crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside! The entire batch was devoured. Thanks so much!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I
This is the perfect strawberry spinach salad! I loved it and so did the other 20 people at the family gathering I was attending. I doubled the recipe and the bowl was licked clean. I had plenty of leftover dressing though, which is great because I want to make more salad, it was so good! I decided to add green onions to the salad and not put any in the dressing just because that's what I had. I also sprinkled on some feta cheese because I enjoy the salty cheese with the sweet dressing and berries. I like the idea of adding bacon next time!

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms
A friend made these for a luncheon and even though mushrooms are not a huge favorite of mine, these were delicious! My friend added bacon bits to hers and cut down on the cayenne so they weren't too spicy. She also used the same filling for jalepeno peppers which were super yummy! She made the mushrooms and peppers for at least 3 events in a row and they were devoured every time. :-)
