About this Cook
I always have enjoyed good food. I'm retired now and do not cook or bake any more. I turned those reins over to my children and their spouses. Mexican dinners, baking and making candy from scratch were my specialties.
My favorite things to cook
I always enjoyed making cookies. Along with my daughter we made 1200 fancy cookies for her wedding and I participated in cooking baking for our sons and other relatives.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always had company for holiday dinners. They were special to our family. Our children and their spouses carry on the traditions..I and my husband always benefit from this.
My cooking triumphs
Teaching my children..... Three sons and a daughter to cook and bake. One son and daughter are especially good cooks and bakers.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married we had unexpected company and I tried to make a lemon meringe pie with instant pudding. It really looked beautiful but just would not set. I never made another lemon meringue pie. Learning experience..10 points Never try to bake meringue on an instant pudding pie.

Homemade Flour Tortillas
This recipe is closest to what I used for over 50 years. I learned it from an old mexican lady. She and I used crisco instead of lard, and worked the crisco in a little at a time as the dough was kneaded after all the other ingredients were mixed together, including the water. These were served with an authentic homemade mexican pork chili. As my family grew so did the recipes. It took all day to make and serve a mexican meal. I love this recipe. It is perfect for a few people. Much better than any store bought..

Italian Anisette Cookies
This recipe is very close to the one I have. The important ingredients are about the same. One recommendation I would make is not to add additional flour. I knead my dough and it is very sticky. But if you then let the batter rest with out adding flour for 15 min to hr. it will roll nicely and be less apt to become hard.
