About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love comfort foods! Casseroles, pastas, chicken dishes, vegetables cooked all sorts of ways..I'm not a terribly healthy(I don't care HOW much butter, salt, cheese is in a recipe) but I do like using real food and try to incorporate a variety of ingredients into my family's meals!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Trying out a new recipe for dinner ,chopping, measuring, simmering, sauteeing frantically while my kids are getting crazier and crazier around me! :)
My cooking triumphs
Any time I cook some new recipe and my husband's face lights up at the taste of it.
My cooking tragedies
Nothing too bad so far--I tend to play it pretty safe.

Italian Pasta Salad II
When I made it I thought I might have ruined a whole bowl of good food because of the dressing, which smelled way too vinegar-y to me. But after chilling in the fridge a few hours that totally dissipated and the finished product was great.

Grilled Chicken Burgers
Really good! Didn't use mushrooms, halved recipe, kept breadcrumbs same, fried in veg. oil about 10 minutes, they were moist and really tasty.

Different Chicken Divan
I really like this recipe. It is rich, delicious, and definitely has kick!!! We serve over rice--I would never serve it alone. It's a great way to introduce your kids to new flavors, if they're not used to curry or the spiciness of cayenne. We scale it down a bit because we don't need 10 servings, but I still use almost a pound of chicken and a head of broccoli, cut up and steamed beforehand. The mayo I just about halve and I only use the cream of chicken soup(1 can). I use 1/2tsp curry, a rounded 1/4tsp of cayenne and a little less than 1/2tsp of garlic salt. Comes out great:)
