Juicy Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
Added a TBS of brown sugar to the marinade, which made it taste a bit teriyaki. Used mostly regular soy sauce, but added a little bit of low sodium sauce. Marinated 1-8" - 1/4" chops for an hour and a half to two hours. Turned out wonderfully.

Old Fashioned Potato Cakes

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2012
These were delicious! The only things I added were garlic powder and an extra egg(as some previous reviewers did). I felt the extra egg made them difficult to handle and shape. Next time I will try them with just the one egg as the recipe calls for.

New York Cheesecake III

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
I chose this recipe because of the shortbread crust, as I don't care for graham cracker. This is absolutely the best cheesecake I've ever tasted. I do add a tsp of vanilla but that's the only change I make to the recipe. Creamy and heavy but not so heavy that it feels like a lump in your stomach after eating a piece. This was the first cheesecake I've ever made and it's so easy. I've made it 4 times now and it's been amazing each time. Just make sure you let the cream cheese get to room temperature first and you should get good results each time...even if you overcook it. The very simple, Whipped Cream recipe from this site goes lovely with it also.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
Very tasty. Not gooey like traditional pecan pie. Mine seemed to fall apart when I cut it. I did overcook it however and may have added a few too many nuts.

Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
I thought the salad tasted fine but I was expecting more flavor. I left out the grapes and bacon, so that could have been the cause too. Perhaps my measurements were off. My mother said it was delicious though.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
Fantastic. This was my first spaghetti sauce. I tweaked a bit because it wasn't sweet enough for me, plus I wanted a little extra spice. I used 3/4 tsp Italian seasoning and 1/4 tsp basil. I also added a pinch of crushed red pepper, 1/2 tsp sugar, and half a can of tomato soup. I pureed the tomatoes as well, for a smoother sauce. I simmered for about 3 hours on low. I found the sauce to be a bit too rich and chunky so I added 1/4 cup water and pureed in the blender. The meatballs were good but I had to add another egg and leave out some of the bread crumbs.

Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Fantastic pie. I don't even like Pecan Pie, but I ate most of this one the first time I made it. I've made it several times, just as the recipe is written. Made my own crust this time, from the Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler recipe from this site..with the addition of a tsp of vanilla.

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Excellent cobbler. I used the suggestions of other reviewers and reduced the orange and lemon juice to 1/4 cups. I added about a tsp of vanilla to the crust. I also used frozen peaches. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly.

Double Layer Pumpkin Pie

Made this a couple of years ago for my first Thanksgiving dinner. Amazing pie. Tastes like pumpkin without all the effort and a touch of something extra.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

This is by far the BEST green bean casserole ever. Made it for my first Thanksgiving. I'll be making it again this year. I subbed the crackers for french fried onions.

I am SO excited to find this recipe here. I love to make things for people that they haven't had and haven't been able to find in forever. My uncle was telling me about these cookies he had as a kid so I went in search of the recipe and here it is! I'll update right after I make a batch. Thanks so much!

Sugar Cookie Cutouts

These were okay. I rolled them out 1/2 inch. That was too thick. I liked that these weren't very sweet.

This icing was incredible in taste! I don't normally like icing at all. I went scant on the powdered sugar a tiny bit.
