About this Cook
Im a married 29 yrs old, have two sons, one five year old and a one year old and another on the way! Im a assistant teacher and enjoy spending time with my family.
My favorite things to cook
Love making apple cobbler and I will be attempting to make apple pie from scratch very soon. I also make a great spagetti and meatballs meal. My family really enjoys it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving. I make my apple cobbler and my peach cobbler. My family keeps asking for it. So it is a family tradition now...The new thing that I have been making is the cinnamon rolls that taste fantastic.
My cooking triumphs
Making that apple cobbler and chess pie for my cousin's baby shower. Everyone loved it. I made the pies, brought it in and placed it on the table without anyone seeing me put it down and watched everyone complement it. I felt truly great!
My cooking tragedies
Ugh.. Making a pecan pie when I was like 18yrs old. All of the pecans stuck to the bottom of the oven, over flowed from the pie making it difficult to remove and to cook other things. It was just horrible...It took me a week or more for me and my mother to remove them!

Oat Bran Muffins
These were really good muffins. I made some changes to the recipe. I used 1/2 tsp of salt rather than a whole since I am watching the sodium. Used 4 egg whites and a banana. Also used a cup of applesauce-- no oil. Used the 1/2 cup of light brown sugar but threw in some dark chocolate chips in one half of batter and extra golden raisins in the other. I prefer the raisins since it gives it a sweeter taste. Add cinnamon and a bit of pure vanilla and your muffins will be great! This will be great with pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin next time!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust
Decent pizza. Pizza was still doughy and was placed for an additional 10 min in the oven.considering I made this without the breadmaker and the yeast kept dying, it took too long to make. I did jazz it up with lots of garlic powder and parmesan cheese on the crust.

Sweet Dinner Rolls
Best Dinner Rolls I EVER made! The last recipe I made came out like rocks from another popular website that suggested I did not have to let the bread rise. WRONG! The key here is letting the dough rise twice!I dont have a bread machine so here is what I did: Before allowing the dough to rise, I put a bit of coconut oil (1 tsp) in a bowl and rolled the dough around in the oil. I then set the oven for 170 (That is the lowest it goes) I took a damp kitchen towel and placed it over the bowl--to cover the dough. I then turned the oven off and placed a pyrex dish under the bowl (to prevent my bowl from melting) and placed it in the oven the first time for 45 min the first time. As a suggestion of another reviewer, I punched the dough a bit (No need to knead the dough) then let it rise again for another hour. This is the key to having the rolls to be light and fluffy. If you skip the rising part, this WILL NOT yield the same results. You wil end up wth bread rocks! They will be dense and gross in the middle. I know cause I tried it. I made these rolls, pulled them out of the oven and my family devoured them and asked me when I am making it again! Thanks for posting such an awesome recipe Donna! OOh! The recipe also called for 1/4 of a cup of butter. To save on calories, omitted this toplace on bthe top of the rolls and they still came out great. I will try to ake money bread out of these rolls or cinnamon rolls. Also reduced the amount of sugar by 2tb and it still came out great!
