Blueberry Nut Oat Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2006
I used this recipe to make a bread, rather than muffins. I made a few changes: I substituted mashed banana for applesauce, used 2 real eggs instead of substitute, and sprinkled whole oats on top rather than granola. Baked for 50-60 minutes at 200C/395F, it turned out great -- nice and moist. I think next time I might mix in walnuts with the pecans.

Excellent Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2005
This was a big hit with my students. The first batch came out a little too flat, though (not like the picture). I added 1/4 cup more flour and 1/2 cup more oatmeal, and that made them nice and big (still chewy) without being too stiff. I'll certainly be making these again.

Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
These were really easy to ake and turned out well. (Just don't forget anything -- I forgot the butter once and it turned out very odd, indeed!) Great dumplings.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
This crust is best for savoury pies -- like a chicken pot pie or a pumpkin pie (use a sweeter one for apple pies). I substituted the shortening with butter and it turned out okay -- if a little soggy during cooking. It's a nice, flaky crust.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
The cookies came out well, but I think I might decrease the amount of banana next time. Super chewy and very filling.

Mom's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
This pie was a big hit -- the ginger really brings out the flavour. If you let it settle for a few days before you eat it, it's even better.

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
These cookies came out nice and soft, very tastey. I found it a little hard to dust them with sugar before baking, though. We ended up eating them without any sugar or frosting on top, which was actually quite good. I've already added this one to my list of favourite recipes.

Chewiest Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2004
I've tried this recipe twice to make sure I did it right -- kept checking steps and did everything like I was told, but both times it was horribly grainy -- like eating chocolate-flavoured granulated sugar. Simply awful.

I've used this recipe at least a dozen times and it's always so moist and delicious. Really wonderful banana flavour... Fantastic!
