Caramel Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
Jordanna thank you!! I was recently at a Christmas party where these squares were served and I rushed home to find the recipe on allrecipes.com and there they are as big as life. I do believe these may very well be the best thing I have eaten in the sweets dept in a very long time. I have however made 1 major change. I put them in a 8x8 pan. They turned out terrible in the 9x13 and absolutely perfect in the 8x8. They are thicker googey and cooked to perfection. One other change I made was to put pecan pieces instead of walnuts as they are as soft chewy nut like the squares. It is great that these are so fast and simple to make and so yummy. Your cooking times and ingredients are exact for an 8x8. I am so very happy to have this recipe Jordanna, nice of you to share.

Lemon Coconut Squares

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2011
Delicious ! ! ! When I made these I was not paying attention so I added the coconut to the egg mixture and they turned out perfect. I would do it the same way next time. Lovely squares and so very easy. Nice strong lemon taste. I mixed the bottom until it sticks together so it won't be crumbly.

Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
These yummy sweet squares are loved by most. My mom has made these for us all our lives and everyone loved them. We use only the little white marshmallows 250 g bag...the whole bag and that gets rid of a lot of what I refer to as strange sweetness of the colored marshmallows and bring out the taste of chocolate and peanut butter, we don't put nuts in either. We use milk chocolate chips or butterscotch depending on what flavor we we feel like at the time. Try these both ways folks but please get rid of the colored marshmallows and try the white. Coconut is delicious in these.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
Moist and delicious !!!! This is a wonderful recipe. I did as others added 3/4 cup milk plus I added 1 cup of coconut. The batter looked a bit odd but I popped it in the muffin tins and hoped for the best. They came out perfect and moist. Don't over cook these folks. The frosting I put on these was 1/2 the recipe from German Sweet Chocolate Cake 1. Be sure to cook the frosting until it is good and thick so it doesn't slide off the muffins. I was looking for a decent white muffin recipe and this is it....look no further folks...YUM. Thanks to Scottosman for sharing.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies III

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
JOANNE!!! These are Fantastic. Oh MY ! My husband ooohed and ahhhed and ate 3 (6) at once as soon as they were cooled. The filling is delicious! I fell bad for those who are eating these without the filling. I followed your recipe (with one little change- used 3/4 cup Brown sugar and 1/4 cup white for a chewy cookie). The dough was very sticky so I just spooned it on the cookies sheet and when they came out of the oven they were puffy so I dropped the cookies sheet from about 6" on to the counter top and viola they deflated - perfect cookies. It is so nice to have a totally new cookie recipe in the house. The size of the batch is great too. There is just 2 of us and I got one cookie and my hubby the rest - gone in 48 hours - imagine...he is a cookie monster. Thank you for sharing Joanne.

German Sweet Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
My hubby and my neighbour gobbled this up with rave reviews on Thanksgiving here in Nova Scotia. I am not much of a chocolate fan so I am leaving my reviews out of the mix as it wouldn't be fair when I don't much like chocolate. It was so pretty. The icing with the coconut and pecans, well, I could of just sat down and ate it by the spoonful. Thank you Cindy. I will make this again for my hubby.

Creamy Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
CAROL CAROL CAROL !!! WOW This is wonderful. I can't imagine why anyone would have trouble with this "easy" recipe. Beat and beat this lush frosting and it will be perfect. I just made it and added 3 teas of orange extract to it as I am going to put it on an orange cake (Beat & Bake Orange Cake-allrecipes.com) and decorate with segments of Mandarin Oranges. This is so yummy, so simple to make. Don't use margarine folks it will flop for sure. Thank you Carol ! UPDATE I am waiting for my cakes to cool. If that soon doesn't happen I am not going to have any icing left. This is so delicious Carol it should have an extraordinary name, creamy frosting does not do this justice. Thanks again.

Scandinavian Almond Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
These are DELICIOUS. I made exactly as ingredients stated except I added a bit extra almond to the icing. I rolled on Parchment paper than pulled it on to the cookie sheets. Rolled with rolling pin was faster and easier, then cut with a knife. Cut them again while hot. ROLL THIN for best "crunch" results. My hubby loves these, as do I. Thanks Marji.

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
Well these are PERFECT. I have been looking for a long time for the perfect granola bar recipe that I can add tons of delicious nuts and fruit to and this is it. I did take the wise advise of others and put in 1 cup of butter and 1 cup of honey. I added tons of whole almonds, dried cranberries, and pumpkin seeds. Every bite is chocked full. These are very tasty and pretty. I only used 2 cups of oats only because I ran out. I highly, highly agree with Kaley Rae-MELT THE BUTTER. It makes it so much easier to mix and I let them sit 5 minutes so the oats will absorb some of the moisture. These are truly so full of flavor. When hot they seem like the are going to fall apart- when cooled they will not. The texture is perfect too. Thanks you BURSTEIN. My search for the perfect granola bar is over.

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2007
Well, delicious. My boyfriend loves cheesecake...me not really much of a fan. However now caramel...I could eat on string beans. This is a wonderful recipe. I did take the advice of others and used the following: 3 pkg-8 oz of cream cheese 3 eggs 3/4 cup white sugar 1 1/2 tsp vanilla Turn your heat down! 350 is far too high for this...it will crack..not that cracks are not a good place to stach caramel. One other change next time I would add double the caramel so it looks like the picture. My caramel trick for the perfect caramel is to add 4 Tblps of blend to melt the caramels that way they are not hard and they are not to runny when baked with the cheesecake. I used the entire 550g box of Betty Crocker Brownies it was perfect just cooked them around 15 minutes first. Thank you this recipe I will make again.

Well Julie, this is an absolutely fabulous recipe. We love it. I made a batch to add to some gift baskets I am making for Christmas gifts. I am going to make more tomorrow it is so good. I followed your recipe exactly except I cooked it until it reached 175 degrees only because I was doing two things at once and was not watching closely. The candy turned out perfect. What an easy recipe. Thanks for sharing Julie. Julie have you ever tried to double the recipe? Some things can sucessfully be doubled and some not. Please let me know it would save me some time. Cowboy Cookies III

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
Well Bonnie Smith a great big THANK YOU to you. These cookies are nothing less than delicious. Mine did not spread out like others. As soon as they turned golden all over I removed them from the oven. They immediately sank, so to speak, and crackled. Cooked perfectly and are chewy and a terrific flavor. My boyfriend is out in a cold snow storm on a tractor plowing our driveways, when he comes in my cookie monster will be thrilled with these. I am going to share these with my neighbors also. I will bake these cookies again, many times I am sure. Oatmeal is Garry's favorate cookie. It is so nice to have another version. They turned out exactly like Laura's photo.

It is almost criminal that a square be this delicious. Perfect....SO GOOD! I made these for company a couple of weeks ago. BIG HIT ! ! ! ! The trick, DO NOT OVER COOK them and use FLAKED coconut, not that dried out fine coconut. Milk chocolate chips are good too. Just thinking about these...now I have to go and make them again. Thank you Dale.

Cranberry Cheese Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
Well Peggy I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't appreciate this wonderful recipe you have shared. My boyfriend whom loves cheesecake and cranberries was yumming all the way through this delightful desert. We call it a desert because Garry is eating it by the slab. It is a pleasant change,to the norm. I cooked my own cranberries which I had a 500ml bottle on hand and I used the whole bottle, I just added what the recipe called for; the B sugar and cornstarch. YUMMY. Here is a big fat 5 stars for you Peggy. Thank you from Nova Scotia.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2013
This is a great recipe. I cut up 1 1/2 onions and still could have covered 1 more onion with this amount of ingredients. I added a 1/2 t cornstarch, and smoked paprika for flavor. My hubby loved these so much! I used Panko breadcrumbs of course, why would anyone use any other kind. They give the best crunch on everything. Thanks to "Christina B" Jan 16, 2008 for her suggestion of using a plastic bag. WOW. No mess is correct. I will always use your method Christina...so easy. Delicious folks ! Give this recipe a try.
