About this Cook
I am a mom of 2 beautiful girls and am married to a wonderful man. When we met he had a long list of food he did not like. Cheese being one of them. Who doesn't like cheese? I have been cooking for him over 18 years now and his list of dislikes has greatly shortened. He likes cheese now, but I still cannot get him to eat tomatos. I learned to cook from the strong and wonderful women in my life. I was raised by my mom and grandmother and remember standing in the kitchen and watching them cook. My friends always wanted to come and eat at my house because they loved my mom's food. Fast forward to my college years and it was the same thing in my apartment kitchen. Boy I could doctor up a package of Ramen noodles like nobodys business. After having my girls I have enjoyed watching them stand in the kitchen and watch and help me cook, I can see the joy in their eyes when they cook too.
My favorite things to cook
I am an all over the board gal. I really don't have a favorite type of food, just food that tastes good. I like trying new things and food that I think my family will like.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up on holidays when everyone else was cooking traditional holiday fare, my mom would always try something different. So I guess that is my favorite family cooking tradition. Trying out new recipes for the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
I guess a triumph of mine would be that last year I made Thanksgiving dinner all by my self. I had my in-laws visiting from Germany and I pulled the whole meal off. Everything was finished on time and everything tasted great!
My cooking tragedies
I am not a cake maker! There I said it. I like to think that I am, but deep downinside I know I am not. They taste great, but boy are they ugly.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili
My family loves this chili. The only thing I do different is instead of bacon bits I use real bacon and cook it at the start of the recipe and then I add the rest of the meat and veggies.

Hush Puppies II
Great hush puppies. I had ran out of self rising flour, so I used 1 cup of bisquick and 1 cup of corn meal. They were very tasty. My husband who said he didn't like hush puppies even ate them.

Caramelized Baked Chicken
I have made this chicken twice. Once with chicken thighs and once with boneless skinless breasts, both times they were wonderful. I did add less ketchup and squirted in a little Sriracha sauce/ asian chile sauce for a little bite to it. My family loves it. They have asked for it at least once a week since I made it the first time.
