Buttery Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
Delicious Alfredo sauce...so creamy, rich, and wonderful. I even left out the fontina cheese and pepper and used 1% milk in place of whole milk. So good! Will definitely make again.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2013
I didn't refrigerate my chicken because I didn't have time before my family arrived for lunch! I don't think it's necessary really. I used onion powder in place of dried onion flakes, and I omitted the corn syrup. The recipe was very good. We had as a side orzo boiled in chicken broth and butter with Parmesan cheese added once the orzo was done. It was a good meal. My family enjoyed it as well...there were no leftovers!

Strawberries and Cream Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2013
This is a good bread pudding. I doubled the recipe but only used 5 eggs and one cup of sugar. I used country French bread. This bread pudding was mildly sweet with the reduction of sugar. I enjoyed it. My mother thought it was "marvelous." Others in the family liked it, too, but I had made a better than anything cake the same day, so it was hard to compete with that. :-) It took about 45 minutes to bake.

The Best Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2013
Very moist, tasty meatloaf...the steak sauce was a nice addition. My sister made this this evening and it was really good. She used a little less steak sauce than the recipe called for, but I think it would have been fine with the entire called-for amount. She topped one loaf with steak sauce and one with brown sugar and ketchup. Both toppings tasted great. I rarely get in the mood for meatloaf, but when I do I'll be making this recipe.

Mom's Favorite Baked Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2013
This macaroni and cheese was just all right. The flavor was actually good but it was weirdly grainy. My sister and I didn't mind it, but our mom and bro commented that it was repulsive. We followed the recipe exactly. We made 1-1/2 times the amt., but the bake time was the same - 30 mins. I think there are many mac and cheese dishes that would be more satisfying and not grainy. I doubt I make this again; my sister said the same thing.

Farmer's Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2013
I heart breakfast casseroles, so it's no surprise that I enjoyed this dish. I made 1-1/2 times the amount but kept the evaporated milk the same. That was plenty of liquid. I think anymore would have been overkill. I didn't really measure exactly on the ham and green onions; I just threw it on there, and that was that. The casserole turned out wonderfully. The bake time was about 58-60 mins. The second time I made this, I added double the ham, double the green onions, and a half cup Mexican style cheese in addition to all the other called-for ingredients. It again took ab 60 minutes to bake. Great recipe for the breakfast casserole lover. I think you will like this if you like hashbrowns, eggs, and ham!

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2013
This is very good cinnamon swirl bread. Like other reviewers said, I found this to be somewhat cake-like, so, if you are wanting bread consistency, I don't know if this recipe is for you. I followed the recipe exactly, and some family members commented that the only thing that is odd about the bread is how the parts that don't have the cinnamon/sugar mixture aren't really sweet. I don't know if the batter needs more sugar next time, or maybe a combo of brown and white sugar...or, instead of only two layers of batter make it three so more cinnamon/sugar mixture is throughout the bread? I'm really not sure, but, when I make this again, I will definitely be doing one of those three modifications to make the batter sweeter. The cooking time of 45-50 was spot on.

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2013
Yummy! I made this with 1% milk (because it's all I had), and this gravy is still so rich and wonderful. Also, the only sausage I could find at the store was 16 oz. instead of 12, so I used it all. I can't wait to have the leftovers tonight. :) This will definitely be a gravy recipe I use over and over again. Gosh, I'm hungry now!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2013
This is a wonderful recipe! My sister made it last Thanksgiving, and she received rave reviews from almost all our family members. It is rich, moist, and delicious. The cake mix she used looked lighter than this, so I'm not sure it was devil's food cake. She refrigerated the dessert overnight which made the flavors meld very well together. Also, she made this recipe into a trifle with two sets of layers. It was awesome and looked very pretty in a trifle dish!

Praline Pecan French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
DELIGHTFUL! I will 110% be making this dish again. It was wonderful and completely satisfying. I'm actually eating the leftovers (with a brunch egg bake) for lunch right now, and it's even better than it was last night. I made the French toast exactly as is the night before I served it, warmed up the pralines syrup mixture, spooned on top of the bread, and baked it. It was grand. I cannot say enough good things about this recipe. My family raved about it for ten minutes; they could not stop talking about how good it was. I paired this dish with the brunch egg bake that I also found on this site. It was a wonderful brinner to put the two together! I'm so, so glad I tried this recipe.

Brunch Egg Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
This is a really great breakfast casserole. It was perfect for dinner last night (with pecan praline French toast on the side!). I left out the bell pepper and basil because I had forgotten both at the grocery store and was NOT going back for them! :) Everyone in my family loved the recipe without those ingredients, so I don't think I'll add them when I make this again. The eggs were light and fluffy, yet you didn't have to eat much to feel full. The mushrooms and green onion kicked up the flavor in this dish ten-fold! I had an issue with the flour clumping in the egg/milk mixture. I put half of the ingredients in a blender bottle, shook it a few times, and that did the trick. I will definitely be making this dish again soon - for a non-traditional tailgating party in two weeks. GO HOGS!

Magic Cookie Bars from EAGLE BRAND®

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
Everyone I know loves these. My mom used to make these when my siblings and I were young, and she would make them for school bake sales and brunches, etc. I have never cared for them, but I really am the only one it seems! Lol These are very rich and filling. If you love the individual ingredients of this recipe, I think you will be wildly impressed. Some other reviewers said there was too much chocolate; that's how I feel, also. The chocolate chips seem so overpowering, but nobody in my family has complained about that. Big hit recipe!

Butterscotch Blondies

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
My family loved this recipe! I, however, really didn't. I am not a butterscotch fan, so that's why. :-) When I made these I didn't have pecans so I made the recipe without. That was the only thing I didn't follow. These are very sweet, rich blondie brownies. I've made these several times since, and I now add about a cup more butterscotch or white chocolate chips (to spice things up!) and another teaspoon of vanilla...and still no pecans! This is a really great recipe even though I didn't necessarily care for it with the butterscotch chips. It can be tweaked in so many ways; that is a great thing about any recipe!

Quick Sunshine Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
I enjoy this cake as is but it doesn't have an orange flavor at all. I've tweaked it to make it more appealing to my family and friends when I now make it. I use a few less tablespoons of oil and add one more can of mandarin oranges (without the juice) to the cake. My oven at 325 degrees only takes about 30-35 mins to bake, so I would be careful about bake time. Also, with the topping, I only use whipped cream and mandarin oranges. With these changes this cake is delicious...a great summertime treat!
