Sweet Baby Carrots

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2014
My son loves carrots this way. As she said, not the healthiest way to eat carrots but once in awhile is okay and they disappear super fast. I've done it before with just the brown sugar, a little butter and some salt and pepper so if you don't have honey, I think you can still pull it off. :)

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2014
I used round pretzels for these, Rolos and M&Ms because my kiddos don't like nuts. Very cute and didn't take long.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2014
I know I'm in the minority but I didn't love this recipe. I have made it twice and it hasn't thrilled me. The chicken wasn't dry but it wasn't what I would call juicy either. I did all of the seasonings and even used real garlic inside, along with the onion and more of the spices. I also added some chicken broth to the bottom of the pan and some pats of butter to the skin because I make roast chicken all the time and this had no aroma...that pretty much made me think there might not be a ton of flavor. I was right. Thanks for the recipe but I don't think I'll try it a third time. Also, the skin didn't get "sticky" but I don't know how it would with just those spices. There's nothing in there to caramelize so I'm not sure how that would happen. Thanks anyway though! Glad it's working for everyone else.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2014
I read a lot of reviews for this and I have a couple of comments. First of all, thank you. I love these. I made them to go with my beef stew tonight. I rolled them too thin so they didn't get very big but that was my fault. I ended up with like twelve instead of six. I also used butter instead because that's what I had on hand. I had to use a glass to cut them and it worked fine. I used all of the milk so I had to flour my surface and my rolling pin quite a bit but it was fine. The bottoms came out crispy and buttery and the insides were soft. Super good! Thank you JP!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
I've made this two years in a row for my son's bday party, the lastest time being yesterday. This cake comes out so great. I cut the oil down to 3/4 cup but it was so thick I just threw in maybe a tbs. more. I also subbed out the water for coffee since I had just made a pot of it. Topped with peanut butter frosting, it's great. My son's actual bday is tomorrow so I have to make it again for that. Super easy. Thank you!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2012
I'm rating this recipe as written, with no changes. As is, it's not so great. But that may be because I didn't roll them into cut-outs. I needed a few reg. round sugar cookies for something and the rest of the batter I dropped by spoonfuls, flattened just a bit, added some colored sugar and baked for the 8 minutes. The 8 min. was spot on but the cookies themselves had little flavor. I read the reviews and I see that everyone has added in extra cups of sugar. I would definitely suggest that and would have done it myself but didn't have it on hand and wasn't running off to get it at 8:30 at night. So as is, it's not so flavorful. I will try this recipe next month when I have time to make cut-outs but it needs more than what's listed, flavor-wise.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
I love this recipe so much. It really is probably one of my most favorite recipes ever. I've made so many chicken pies using this and my mother-in-law loved it so much I had to give her the recipe. I do change it a bit to suit my husbands' taste. I trade out the carrots and peas for some diced potatoes. Thank you very much for posting!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Very good. I went through a spell where I was bringing this for lunch all the time and the ladies in the teacher's room had to have the recipe. I just made this a couple months ago to bring to my sister's pool party and everyone there loved it. Thank you!

Marshmallow Fondant

My son wanted a "Club Penguin" cake for his birthday last year. Thank you so much for this recipe. I had no idea what I was doing but this saved me. I made an igloo, "puffles", penguins, etc. Not professional but he loved it and everyone thought it was so cute!

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
Oh my gosh these were good. My husband always makes homemade peanut butter balls every year and I wanted to add something new with it. My brother and his wife came down Christmas night (we always put out a lot of treats for company stopping by) and they actually argued about which "truffle" they preferred. She liked these and he liked my husbands'. Traitor. :-)

Chex® Lemon Buddies

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
I made this for camp. I liked the lemon flavor but I thought the powdered sugar was a bit over-powering. My family liked it okay but prefers the regular kind. I liked that you can have a new mix without buying a thousand ingredients. Simple and quick and definitely worth a try.

Caramelized Spicy Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
Wow! My sons like roasted pumpkin seeds a little, my husband not at all. We never did this in my house growing up so I like to do it now. I love that it's sort of healthy. I've always just done the salted and seasoned kind...never any with sugar. These came out great. The flavor is very good. I got my sugar carmalizing in a little butter before adding the seeds, tossed them in the spices, threw it back in the warm oven for just a minute (to see if I could make them crunchier) and let the boys try them. I'm buying another pumpkin today so I can try to get the seeds a bit crunchier but the taste is great.

A-Maize-ing Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
I made this twice in one week at the request of my family. The first time I kept it the same. The second time around I cut fresh corn of the cob and added a cup of half and half. It's great for a fall day in Maine! Thanks!

Building Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
I worked with this recipe for about two hours last night only to run out of dough at the end. I was only making one house but there's not enough for the roof. The dough got crumbly fast so I also did the microwave thing. We all have the day off from school today (snow day in Maine!) so my son's and I will try to put the finished parts together (sans roof) and see what happens!! Thanks for the recipe. I'll try again next year. Merry Christmas! :-)

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
I've been making this for Christmas the last two years. I don't find it a bother to baste every 15 minutes at all...I'm in the kitchen anyway and the end product is worth it. I don't like cherries or pineapple so this is a grea alternative. Thank you.
