About this Cook
I'm married with two great sons. I come from a large family that celebrates family occasions with lots of great food! I grew up with the best cook in the world; my mom. Sadly, she passed away two years ago. I miss her terribly but I try to make her recipes for my sons so they will know how great she truly was.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook new things. It's hard with two small children to come up with recipes that will be liked by all but I think it's important to get them to try new things. I love to make roasts, homemade apple pies, roasted chicken, you name it! My most favorite recipes are the ones I've gotten from this site!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother used to make a spaghetti sauce that she would simmer all day. It was so good that neighbors used to show up at our house right before dinner, with salad or garlic bread, asking if they could stay for dinner. Ofcourse she always let them. My brother and myself still make her sauce the same way. My sons and I always make and decorate cookies for xmas and my husband and I always host a huge party at Christmas with lots of great food we make.
My cooking triumphs
I made a great Christmas dinner last year that everyone raved about. It is often a lot of work but it's worth it to see all the happy faces!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make my mother's biscuits I think I must have left out the baking powder. They were as hard as hockey pucks. I was young (like ten) so that's my excuse. My older sister still teases me about this though.

Sweet Baby Carrots
My son loves carrots this way. As she said, not the healthiest way to eat carrots but once in awhile is okay and they disappear super fast. I've done it before with just the brown sugar, a little butter and some salt and pepper so if you don't have honey, I think you can still pull it off. :)

Pretzel Turtles
I used round pretzels for these, Rolos and M&Ms because my kiddos don't like nuts. Very cute and didn't take long.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
I know I'm in the minority but I didn't love this recipe. I have made it twice and it hasn't thrilled me. The chicken wasn't dry but it wasn't what I would call juicy either. I did all of the seasonings and even used real garlic inside, along with the onion and more of the spices. I also added some chicken broth to the bottom of the pan and some pats of butter to the skin because I make roast chicken all the time and this had no aroma...that pretty much made me think there might not be a ton of flavor. I was right. Thanks for the recipe but I don't think I'll try it a third time. Also, the skin didn't get "sticky" but I don't know how it would with just those spices. There's nothing in there to caramelize so I'm not sure how that would happen. Thanks anyway though! Glad it's working for everyone else.
