About this Cook
I am a wife, mom of one, and foster mom of 2. I work full time which makes cooking difficult but believe that I can cook much better food than is available in stores or restaurants. So my family is subjected to a home cooked meal almost every night of the week.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make soups, sauces and casseroles.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make krautburgers (aka bierocks, or runzas). My dad taught me to make them when I was a little girl. His family is from Nebraska so they have been making them since the beginning of time. Sometime soon I will teach my daughter to make them.
My cooking triumphs
I am always super excited when I make an alfredo sauce that doesn't break (I get impatient and crank up the heat). Also excited when I make something that my two super-picky foster kids will eat.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made cookies by myself when I was little I read the baking soda measurement as tablespoon instead of teaspoon. They were terrible!

Beef and Wine Soup with Dumplings
When I saw this recipe I thought to myself..."beef, wine, dumplings? How could this not be amazing?" Well let me tell you...it was bland and tasted overpoweringly of wine. And I love wine. No one in my family could eat it. I tried it the next day for lunch at work because soup is usually better the next day and pretty sure I was buzzed after eating it. Which is ok if you need an excuse to drink at work, but probably won't make it again.
