Soft Oatmeal Cookies

This had a little too much cinnamon for me, but my boyfried and my brother L-O-V-E-D these cookies. I rarely review recipes, but I am so grateful to have one of "those recipes" in my arsenol. I am chilling dough for more now, this time with less cinnamon and some chocolate chips!

Baked Ziti IV

We forgot about this in the oven and was overcooked by probably 10-15 minutes and it was still wonderful; just slightly dried out around the edges. Used ricotta cheese based on previous reviews. I also had to use a sligtly larger pan because the recipe yields so much.

Fresh Strawberry Pie III

I had to substitute 3 TB flour in place of the corn starch, and used strawberry-banana gelatin in place of strawberry. I also coated the crust with cream cheese before adding strawberries. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all--especially with whipped cream!

Sausage Gravy

This is really good, but SO much better if it has the chance to sit overnight. When it's first done the flour is very easy to taste, but the next day all of the flavors have blended nicely.

Alysia's Basic Meat Lasagna

I used this recipe the first time I ever made lasagna, and it immediately ousted my mother-in-law's signature lasagna on my husband's list of favs. I made no changes to this recipe and it was phenomenal as-is. I will recommend using Newman's sausage flavored spaghetti sauce, because it has nice slices of spicy sausage in it.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

I have made this three times, each a little differently, and all delicious. The first time, I put the roast and soups in aluminum foil and then poured the water around the outside and cooked 9 hours. The next time I omitted the foil and cooked for 8 hours. The next time I used a very large roast, and cooked it for about 20 hours. It then had the texture of pulled beef; I combined sour cream with the gravy for a wonderful stroganoff. Apparently, you just can't lose with this recipe!

This recipe was too sweet for us. I didn't have any sirloin on hand, and tried to make do with 1 lb of ground beef, and it wasn't enough meat; seemed a little watery.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

I would have enjoyed the addition of sliced mushrooms in this; couldn't give it 5 stars for cosmetic reasons. Little white flecks of cream cheese just wouldn't go away and looked a little strange.

Caribbean Chicken

I was only mildly impressed by this dish until I tried a bite with the nectarine (In season). It really made the dish; I am making it with double or triple the amount of fruit called for. It smells really outstanding, but be prepared for messy preparation!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

I made this as directed, and the apples tasted just a bit under done. I think next time I will saute the apples a little before putting them on the crust. I didn't know to cook them longer because the ones on the top which I tested were done first. I also put 2/3 sauce under lattice and 1/3 of the sauce over, and it worked well. **update** I made this again and cooked it longer than recommended (close to an hour) and used these ultra-tart mystery apples from our trees. OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! I wish I had more apples!

Wine Sauce for Seafood

I used RealLemon instead of a juiced lemon, and it was a little overwhelming. I blame this on the conversion listed on that bottle though. I was able to fix this by adding flour and heavy cream

Basic Quiche by Shelly

Honestly, this recipe should get more stars. I used to get a quiche from a cafe down the street that closed its doors. I had been in withdrawal until finding this recipe, which is honestly even a little better. Thank you so much!

Smothered Green Beans II

I don't have a large skillet, so I removed the bacon and then added in step two, with the water. This recipe just made my week! We had it over rice, and then I snuck some more before going to bed. I am going downstairs to finish it shortly. Oh and I didn't let all of the water evaporate so I could use the sauce on the rice--very good!
