My interest in cooking was sparked when I moved in with my then fiance, who could (and would) eat spaghetti every day. (Or frozen dinners.) I knew I could do better for him, I just had to figure out how!

Mexican food for sure. I also like to bake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Of course, memories of making cookies with my mom. I can't wait until my kids can help me!
My cooking triumphs
Chicken and dumplings! That was a huge challenge. My husband is from the south and likes his with a thick gravy...I am from the north and had them as a soup with meat.
My cooking tragedies
Roast, potatoes and carrots in the crock pot. I dont know what I do differently than my mother in law, but we leave it up to her!

Fresh Cherry Crisp
As written, this gets three stars simply because every component tastes great! However...this is seriously not enough cherries and WAY TOO much topping. This is coming from someone whose favorite part of a fruit crisp is the topping. Since I have a large family and will need the 13x9 pan, next time I will use closer to 5 cups of cherries, and about 1/2 to 2/3 the topping. Probably closer to 1/2. Like I said though, the crisp was great, and the cherries were great, but they were hidden! I still can't wait to try again!

Cinnamon-Roasted Almonds
My family loved these! Next time, I want more crunch, so I might double the coating. It made the house smell divine.
