Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
Holy Smokes!!!! This recipe is AMAZING!! I was never a Snickerdoodle girl until I made this last week - and forced again last night by my husband and son to make more (they don't even like baked goods!). They refused to let me bake Christmas cookies until I made more of these! This is a compilation of the advice I've cut and pasted from others here and put in "my notes" section of the recipe so it prints out with it: "Bake for 8 min exactly! For the topping, I used 3T. sugar & 3.5 tsp. of cinnamon dumped in ziplock bag. Do not be afraid to over coat. It will NOT turn out too sweet - I'm not a fan of sweets!! If your cookie turns out flat, I'd check to see if your baking soda has expired. Also, if your eggs are too big the dough will spread too much. Most recipes call for large eggs, not extra large. When I make this recipe, I usually pour off just a tiny bit of the egg white, because I like my cookies puffy." Regarding this advice: I did buy brand new Baking Soda just for this recipe since my soda is usually a few years old. I have not tried ridding some of the egg white yet since they seem puffy enough for me. You MUST try this recipe! Literally, will change your life for the better!! OH - btw - the raw dough is so yummy!!!

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
I have accidently bought beef Eye of Round roasts several times. Usually no matter how I cook it, it comes out tough. This recipe - it came out the least toughest I've ever had with this cut of beef! That being said, I had a 2.5 lb roast - cooked it for 7 mins per lb, then left it in the turned-off oven for 2 hours instead of 2.5 since it was 1/2 lb. smaller. Well, it ended up being medium-well done. Unfortunately, I like it rare to med-rare. Next time I will try it like a previous person said: 20 mins. per lb. in turned-off oven.

Chicken Breasts with Herb Basting Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
This dish was phenomenal!!! I followed the recipe completely except I had no hot sauce. It was still amazing!!! I did double the recipe for the marinade and I'm so glad I did! I used skinless, boneless, chicken breasts - and did NOT pound them smaller. Instead, I cut them in half so they would cook in time. In 45 minutes, I had scrumptious, juicy chicken! Thank you so much! I thought this would be a boring recipe - and instead I'll be making this every other week - it's SO GOOD!!!!

Pumpkin Pancakes

These were WONDERFUL!!! Tasted like warm pumpkin bread! I used the original recipe (not the short version since I already have the ingredients for the original) - and it was perfect the way it was! Thanks for this great recipe!

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
Wonderful! Yes, a bit sweet, but I'm not a vinegar fan, so it's a great recipe. I think I will put in a bit less Miracle Whip next time, as my coleslaw bag was only 14 oz instead of 16oz and it made it soupy. I did use celery seed, which I love, to substitute poppy seed, which I hate.

Creamy Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I just made this exactly the way she describes it - and it was EXCELLENT!!!! I LOVE Sweet Tomatoes mushroom soup and this was as close as I'm ever going to get to it. AMAZING!!! Now, changes I would make: 1 small shallot, not two. Double the amount of mushrooms. ( prefer button with some shiitakes) Cinnamon is a MUST - BUT do less than a pinch. It's amazing how little you add, and what it adds taste-wise. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this recipes. I am making again this week! And doubling the recipe since it only made enough for 4 small bowls.

Pasta with Fresh Tomatoes and Corn

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
This was awesome! I didn't add the scallions as I don't like them (and forgot the salt and pepper). And it was still great! I did add some leftover beans (black and kidney) from another dinner - heated them up and they were a great addition to the dish! Thanks so much! Hubby said he would love to have this dish again!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
OMG....this soup is amazing!!! I LOVE potato soup and don't like any soup with ham in it at all but this....this was FAB!! I added some corn in and had it with corn muffins. I'm going to be hunting for ham deals from now on, so I can make this as often as possible!! I mean, even my husband gave this 5 stars!

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
This recipe was great!! I was tired of the boring whole chicken recipes and wanted something different. Love the zing! I did as others had mentioned, I changed the oil to 2 Tbsp instead of 1/3 cup. Since there was still a bit of fat on my chicken, I thought it was a good idea. I didn't have any lemon, so next time I'll use it with it to see how different it tastes! Seeing my health-conscience hubby actually use the sauce as gravy gladdened my soul! Great recipe!

Stewed Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
This is the first time I have ever made anything with cabbage! The only thing I've ever eaten that had cabbage in it is egg rolls, so hence, my apprehension with this type of vegetable. I decided with St. Patty's Day that I would try something new and I picked this recipe. I actually had to go to work that night, so my husband and son got to eat it fresh. They really liked it. I ate it two days later and it was still really, really good! The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because, well, I don't have much experience with cabbage. But I will definitely make this one again and again!!

Cornbread Muffins I

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
These were really great muffins, but I felt it was more cake-like than the cornbread muffins I'm used to. I mean, I LOVE cake, but not until after dinner. Next time I'll add less sugar and honey, that will probably make it perfect. I'll try creamed corn too...mmm...I can taste it now!

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I really liked this recipe. I added Ranch dressing, like some people said, to a smaller amount of mayo; which made it great! I even placed the chicken up on a cookie cooling rack so the bottom wouldn't be mushy. Well, that didn't work! Of course, it could be because I had to add a tiny bit of water to the glass baking dish I had the cookie cooling rack in because it was starting to smoke (and no, the water was no where near the chicken - I was thinking the steam made the bottom mushy). I gave this 4 stars because, although I will make this again, I use 5 stars only for blow-my-mind recipes.

Cola Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2006
Tasted great! I had two huge split chicken breasts, so I halved the recipe. I used two Diet Coke cans and one Diet Coke with Lime to add some flavoring, along with one cup of ketchup. It would have tasted better if that phone call hadn't occured and it burned a bit after an hour and a half. :-)

Baked Mushroom Thighs

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2005
This recipe came out a lot better than I expected! I've used soup recipes before, so I had a feeling I knew what I was getting, but the taste here was wonderful!! I did take off the skins of the thighs and added mushrooms to the sauce after cooking them in butter. In all, I totally recommend this recipe!
