Cornbread I

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2005
This is a very traditional cornbread recipe. Nothing fancy, but quite delicious. If cornbread makes you think of Jiffy...you probably won't like this.

Southern Style Thanksgiving Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2005
These were delicious. I didn't have enough time, so they only cooked for 2 hours, but they were still wonderful. I can't wait to try these again with the full 4 hours of cooking time.

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2005
Very good...but they did take longer than 40 minutes to cook, more like an hour. We will definitely make these again though.

Everyone loved these. They were so moist and delicious. Watch them closely...mine were done in less than 20 minutes. I also added a teaspoon of vanilla.

Delicious Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
This turned out great. It reminded me of the bread served at my favorite Italian restaurant. Definitely use fresh rosemary if you can, it makes all the difference.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
This was just okay, not terribly impressive. It seemed to be missing something. I might try it next time with Rotel.

Buttermilk Seed Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
Everyone loved this bread. It was great toasted with just a little butter, so warm and chewy. I didn't have any flax or poppy seeds, so I just doubled up on the sunflower and sesame seeds. I also brushed the tops with a little milk and sprinkled on some rolled oats before baking. Delicious!

Rye Beer Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
I loved this bread. Very dense and chewy, and it makes an excellent Reuben sandwich. I used Heineken, but next time I think I'll try a stronger beer like Warsteiner. I also added an extra tablespoon of caraway seeds.

Good Ol' Alabama Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
This makes authentic, southern iced tea...so authentic I had to cut the sugar down to one cup. For the best results, use Luzianne brand tea bags and add a wedge of lemon.

Chicken Enchilada Casserole II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
This was okay. Definetely lacks something and the onion was a little too overpowering. Probably won't be making this again.

Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2005
This was so good. I used three boneless chicken breasts (add 10-15 minutes to the cooking time) and doubled the sauce. I didn't have any lemon pepper on hand, but the lemon juice and zest was more than sufficient to flavor the meat, just add some black pepper. I also added plenty of fresh garlic to the pan with the butter. With all that sauce it was wonderful served over pasta.

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2005
The chicken had a delicious flavor and was very tender. I added a little chili oil and an extra tablespoon of fresh garlic. It was great served over basmati rice. Next time I'll try adding a vegetable for some color, maybe peas.

Chocolate Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
Not the best cheesecake I've ever had...but certainly delicious. It's not overly sweet which I liked, but I would have preferred a stronger chocolate flavor. Next time I'll try using an imported chocolate, because Hershey's just didn't cut it. I made a raspberry sauce to go with it. Definitely follow the water bath instructions from the advice section, this was the first time I didn't make a cracked cheesecake.

Barbeque Beef Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2005
Surprisingly good! I followed another reviewer's suggestion and added Worcestershire sauce to the beef and onions. I also doubled the amount of barbecue sauce. It made great leftovers for lunch the next day.

Great recipe. I added some white wine for flavor and to stretch the sauce a bit. I also added some capers. We will definitely be making this again.
