I am a senior and retired. I do have a part time job at Macy's which I enjoy. I love cooking and it has become a hobby for me. I live alone but have family near by.
I have two little dogs to keep me company and they like nothing better then to have me in the kitchen! My oldest daughter is an exceptional cook and we exchange healthy recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking fish and shellfish. I live in a area where it is easy to get and very fresh. I also love to try new recipes. I especially like homemade soups in the fall and winter, fall being my favorite time of year,
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mother was a very traditional cook. I was raised in the 50's and 60's before healthy eating was the norm. Three meals a day with dessert at dinner. We had big family dinners, lots of guests and everyone pitched in or came potluck. Mom had her Christmas goodies, we had turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas, clam chowder Christmas Eve, ham at Easter. She also made lots of pork chops and roasts, another must was casseroles which were always delish!
Of course she made the best hotcakes and waffles in town! So many of my precious memories are about family gathered around the table or on a picnic with fried chicken, potato salad, pickled beets, deviled eggs and chocolate cake and lemonade..... Those were the good ole days!!
My cooking triumphs
To Be Determined.......
My cooking tragedies
Probably the hardest and what I dislike the most is baking. I do not do it well and it is usually a chore and not something I enjoy. My biggest "tragedies" have been in baking.
