I am a mother of four, soon to be five. I love to cook but find it harder to be creative nowadays. That is why I LOVE allrecipes.com. I can easily come up with new recipes to wow the family.
My favorite things to cook
My forte lately seems to be desserts. Brownies are the favorite around my house. I guess once this pregnancy is over, I will go back to healhy cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Friday nights are supposed to be family night. I love to make appetizers and we have a picnic on the living room floor watching a family movie.
My cooking triumphs
My latest triumph was brownies for the Hurricane Katrina victims that came for refuge in a shelter in our town. Our church was bringing dinner to them one evenng. I signed up for a main dish and a dessert. Little did I know, that night I was to become "The Brownie Lady". I brought them brownies at least once a week until they were out of the shelter. The brownies always disappeared QUICKLY. People even turned against their own family members by hiding brownies and telling them they had already been eaten. So, I don't know...was that actually a triumph????
My cooking tragedies
My latest cooking tragedy was a cake I made for a surprise party for my dad's 60 birthday. It was supposed to be a torte of sorts. I had to make it HUGE to accomodate the guests. The top was sliding off and it just looked disgusting. On the bright side, everyone loved the taste.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
I have made this before per he recipe and it was wonderful. Today, I didn't have all of the ingredients and changed a few things and I am now in love! I tripled the recipe to make three loaves this morning. I ended up not having three cups of sugar, so I used 2 cups white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar. We also had no nuts, so those we not used. After creaming sugar and ROOM TEMP butter together, we beat in the bananas. And the final alteration was beating in the sour cream last instead of folding it in. I am used to dense, moist banana bread, but this one actually turned out fluffy and moist.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings
We made these for the 4th of July....they were a big hit with everyone! Making them again right now for a birthday party.

Tuna Delicious
Doubled recipe (three cans of 5oz tuna). Used minced onion. Sauteed onion and tuna. Then added it to the sour cream and soup in a microwavable container. Heated for 5 minutes. Put it over the noodles.. It was done! Super EASY! and my entire family liked it! Definitely one to keep handy for a quick and yummy meal!
