Brooklyn Girl's Penne Arrabiata

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
Very good but I felt like this took so long to make for some reason! It's probably just me though! I subbed the chili flakes for this arrabiata spice packet that I bought while I was in Italy. Used 1 egg and maybe half a cup of italian breadcrumbs. Left everything else the same. It was good but the sauce seemed a bit watery to me. I may have to thicken with tomato paste next time.

Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2014
I followed this recipe exactly except I left out parsley. For the alfredo sauce, I used Newman's Own.I am surprised that some people said they used two jars. It made ALOT of sauce! Overall, flavor was very good and I recommend trying this recipe. I would have preferred grilled chicken instead of shrimp. I used the full amount of cayenne and added black pepper - it had great kick. There is nothing healthy about this dish - definitely not something I would make often but it is a good recipe to have for days when you don't mind eating something rich and bad for you. Also - this was not the most budget friendly recipe. I only had some of the items on hand so it ended up costing me more than I would have liked.

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
I always add more lime juice to this and honestly, I still find this to be bland. I do use this recipe quite often however, because I top the chicken with a mango salsa (also from allrecipes.com). The salsa seems to help bring out the marinade flavors a bit more and tastes quite good.

Creamy Pesto Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
I used romano instead of parm and 2% milk instead of cream, because that's all I had on hand. Still came out good though. I'm new to pesto sauces so I don't have much to compare this to but it seems good to me!

Pesto

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
First time I ever made pesto sauce. This was a good basic recipe but I felt like the pine nuts were a bit much for me. Next time I'll cut the nuts in half.

Artichoke Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
I was not expecting to like this but this came out pretty well. The only substitutes I used were 1/2 c of chicken broth and just a few dashes of dried rosemary because that's all I had.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
Followed recipe exactly. I did grill my chicken seperately on the George Foreman however. I would make more sauce next time since there wasn't enough for the 1lb of pasta that I made. Delicious and easy to make. My fiance told me it was a very fancy dish. I would make for company next time.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
I used the taco seasoning recommended and used chicken broth instead of beer. I didn't have tomato sauce so I used tomato paste and mixed with water to get a cup. I put the cilantro in at the end and topped with cheese, sour cream and tortilla chips. Super good and easy!

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

I added an extra lime as well as lime zest and used a few garlic cloves. This was still a little bland to me but we had hot sauce on the side so that made it better. Very easy recipe however.
