1st try as written 2-3 stars due to lack of heat intensity and overpowering green chile flavor. I like mexican food to wow my mouth with layers of flavor and some heat. For attempt #2, I used rotel tomatoes, only 1 can green chiles, 1/2 tbsp chicken base, fire roasted corn with black beans frozen mixture, small can tomato sauce, 1/2 tsp Penzeys Southwestern Spice. Topped with dolop of sour cream, chopped cilantro, few dashes Cholula. Cheese, avocado and chips as written, but cheese was a mix of pepperjack and colby. Not truly vegetarian with chicken base, sour cream and dairy cheese though. All in all, as written, this is a great base recipe.
