Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2015
This is one of the best poundcake recipes I have found. The flavor and texture of this cake are wonderful. The reason I only rated it 4 stars is I made a few changes after reading many reviews. I used only 1 1/4 c butter and added 1/4 c buttermilk. I used Swans Down cake flour, and started in a cold oven. I set the temp to 300 degrees and baked for 2 hours.

Kosher Salt Encrusted Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
I read many reviews thoroughly before choosing this recipe. I rubbed the meat with a paste of fresh garlic before applying the salt as another member suggested. After researching on this site and a few others I started with a temperature of 425 and then lowered the oven to 250 for about 4 hours. I cooked it until the thermometer read 135 degrees and let it rest for 30 minutes. It was perfectly medium rare. I served this with au jus and horseradish. This was excellent, as good as any restaurant. I will definitely make this again.Update: I used the leftovers to make prime rib soup,a copycat of the one served at Harrigan's restaurant. My family loved it as well. I got two great meals out of this recipe. This will be a new holiday tradition.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Overall this was a good cake, quick and easy to make from ingredients I keep on hand. The topping was not crumbly but it still tasted good. I will make this again but will make changes to the topping to get the right texture.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
These were okay but the taste was not what I was looking for. These had too many chips for the amount of dough. They also had a cake like texture which I was not fond of. They did stay soft even the next day, but I will not make again.

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
I wanted to try this in the restaurant but my family and I do not eat pork. I used beef smoked sausage, finely diced and omitted the bacon. This had a really good flavor. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it was not as thick as I thought it should be. I will make this again.

I have stopped buying mix and have made these several times. I double everything in the recipe except the eggs(I only use 3)and bake in a 9x13 pan for 25 min. These are perfect.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
These were so quick and easy. I usually make the Cinnabon clones but I actually prefer the texture of these. I made a frosting with 1/3 cup margarine, 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar,1/2 tsp vanilla and 1 tbsp milk. I will make these again.

Waikiki Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2008
This is very good, it tastes similar to Marie Callender's cornbread mix. I stopped making homemade because I like the cake texture. I will make this from now on!

Asian Ground Beef and Pepper Saute

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
I have made this several times and I omitted the ginger and added a little vinegar and a teaspoon of sugar, for the chili paste I use Sriracha hot chili sauce. This is a quick and easy meal that my family loves. I gave the recipe 4 stars because I made changes to suit my personal taste.

Merwin's Shrimp Gumbo

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
I use this recipe as a base for my gumbo, I always add okra and use chicken, crab and two kinds of sausage. I add a few of my own seasonings, but the base of this recipe is great and adapts well to whatever you like in your gumbo.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
I do not like meringue but I made this for my brother in law and he loved it. I tried it and the lemon filling is so good I'm going to make a lemon cream pie out of it. Thanks for the great recipe.

Pan Dulces

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2005
these have a great texture and flavor, so much fresher than store bought. I made these and they were gone in no time.I used about 4-41/2 cups of flour as others suggested the only problem I had was spreading the topping as others suggested, it flattened them out some next time I will try crumbling it over the tops instead.great recipe, thanks

Funnel Cakes II

I'm hooked on these! my family loves them. they are great topped with strawberry sauce if you don't have that serve them with strawberry syrup and powdered sugar.(I do add a little extra milk to thin the batter and use a measuring cup to pour them instead of a funnel)

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2005
I've been using this recipe for years.I leave out the raisins and sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the top before serving. To prevent egg from cooking I beat the egg into the remaining 1/2 cup of milk before adding it and whisk quickly into boiling rice mixture. The finished pudding has a very smooth and creamy consistency. You can use almost any rice, I use jasmine rice, but any leftover rice works well.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2005
this recipe was great the only change I made was to reduce the ketchup to about 1 teaspoon and added 1 tbsp of flour, 1 packet of lipton beefy onion soup mix and 1 and 1/2 cups extra water (only because we like extra gravy)thank you this is a keeper!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2005
this is a great pizza crust and easy to make, the only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because the flour amount needs to be adjusted( I used well over the 3 1/3 cups called for) that aside, my family loves it and I will make it again.
