Best Ever Butter Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2006
I would like to think I'm a fairly good cook but this recipe made me feel the likewise. Nothing I did could bring this mixture together!!! I even tried adding extra icing sugar, but once the mixer got turned off it all separated!!!

Used this rub on chicken thighs and then baked in oven and they turned out delicious!!! Change the granulated sugar to brown and only used 2 tbsp of salt and it turned out great!!! Mom and boyfriend almost fought over the last piece!!!

Scottish Shortbread I

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2006
Baked mine in a round pan so i could cut into eight wedges, turned out pretty good. Had to bake about 50min. Think it need more butter to make it a little more flaky. Anyone who tried it gave it a 7 out of 10. Defently one of the better recipes out there.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2006
It was my first time making cornbread and I was thrilled with the way it came out!! I've had cornbread before but I always thought it was too grainy, this recipe was not. Sweet, dense and full of flavour. Made it for a family dinner and they absolutely loved it!!!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2006
This bread is fantastic!!! Turns out with a slightly sweet taste that is delicious!!! The second time I made it I used half all-purpose flour and half whole wheat flour and it turned out just as good as the original recipe!!! This bread is great for making Cinnamon Raisin Bread with, just roll into a retangle sprinkle with some cinnamon and raisins, roll up and bake. So delicious, light in texture and easy to make.

Cucumber Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2006
A tasty, light and refreshing sandwich!!! A nice change for lunch instead of the boring same old same old. Left off the cream cheese and pepperoncini because didn't have any, but was still good!!!

Silver White Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2006
This cake turned out beautifully!! Nice and moist and not too sweet on it's own. Made it for at the restaurant for a nice light dessert. Filled it with lemon curd and topped with a buttercream icing.

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
Over all a very good cookie, moist and chewy but not that over the top maple flavour. However, I did not roll the cookies in the maple sugar and that may have made the difference, so next time I will definitely hunt down some maple sugar!!!

Seared Scallops with Tropical Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
This is a great recipe for scallops!! Simple and delicious. Sweet and mildly spicy salsa over succulent scallops!! Yum Yum. Make sure you allow the salsa flavours to blend together for at least 1 hour before serving.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2006
Good combo of healthy whole wheat and a filling pancake. Made mine with bananas instead of blueberries because thats what I had. Doesn't have a heavy whole wheat taste, however i did only use 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1/4 cup of all-purpose. Would definelty make again for a nice change at breakfast.

Tzatziki Sauce I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2006
A pretty good dip, everyone really seemed to enjoy it. A little too much grlic for me. I made sure I finely grated and drained my cucumber so the dip would not turn too runny. Also I added in a tsp of finely minced fresh mint, which really enhanced the 'cooling' effect of the dip.

Gingered Garlic Shrimp

Pretty good recipe. I add a little red wine vinegar like the other reviewer, and also a little more ginger. Turned out great, nice change from the normal weekday blandness.

Honey Nut Granola

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
This granola is the absolute best I have ever had!!! I will NEVER buy it from a grocery store again, so easy to make and turns out absolutely delicious. I added in some wheat germ, flax seeds and used a locally produced wildflower honey. I would definitely suggest for people to bake the granola on either a sheet of parchment or in a non-stick oven roaster, that way you'll have no problems and won't have to scrape it off baking sheets!!!

Irish Tea Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
This recipe is great if you want something that is moist and not too sweet. The perfect cake to serve after dinner with a scoop of ice cream and a cup of tea. Would also be good with a citrus glaze pour over top.

Spring Lime Tea Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
A great cookie for when your in the mood for a nice light treat with a cup of tea. Not an overly sweet cookie so it really allows the lime flavour to shine. Served mine without the glaze to save on calories ;) Would recommend using icing sugar to make the glaze with because it will disolved better than the granulated sugar will and also wait until the cookies are almost completely cooled before you glaze.

Perfect Sushi Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
Very happy with the way this turned out for my first time making it. I used regular white rice but next time I will definetly get some sushi rice to use. I would reccommend using a rice cooker for sure because I find it gives a better texture to the rice which I find much tastier!!

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
I was pretty impressed by the way these turned out, they were delicious!! I added some walnuts into mine instead of the raisins and baked them in the muffin tray which is a great idea instead of trying to tear them apart from eachother. I would suggest putting a tray under the muffin tin while baking though because the filling tends to bubble over quite a bit. I think next time I'll cut the filling back to 1/3 cup butter and 3/4 cup brown sugar, but I'll keep the cinnamon the same.
