Chocolate Zucchini Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
Pretty good, I think it could be a little more chocolately but I'm also comparing it to my Grandmas which I grew up eating!! Definetly a great way to get kids to eat extra veggies without them knowing, my nephew ate two peices and he hates his veggies!!(Just like any kid does)

Homemade Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2007
This is a great base for a granola recipe. I left out the sunflower and sesame seeds along with the raisin and wheat germ because I didn't have any. But I did add in 1/4 cup of flax seeds and an extra 1/2 cup of oats. Turned out very good, can really smell and taste the peanut butter in them. When pressing mixture into pan make sure you really press firmly that way when you turn them out they won't crumble.

Peanut Butter Bars VI

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2007
Really good and super easy to make. Next time I may add some chocolate chips or drizzle with chocolate like other reviewers said. Make sure you really squish down the mixture when putting it into your pan, that way it will hold together better.

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
Very good!! Was my first try at sweet and sour meatballs and they insantly reminded me of my Grandmas!! I prefer mine a little more tangy but they were still delicious. Some other reviewers have said these were either too sweet or not enough sauce, but I would have to disagree. The sweetness was definetly not overpowering and I had plently of sauce to cover the rice with. I cooked mine in the slow cooker which I added in one green and red pepper sliced thinly and 2 carrots sliced into discs, served over brown rice. Boyfriend couldn't get enough!!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
This is probably one of the better snickerdoodle recipes out there. The only thing I changed in the recipe was to use all butter instead of half shortening. I prefer the flavour and 'mouth feel' of butter over shortening which can leave a 'filmy' taste in your mouth.

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 5, 2007
This cheesecake is absolutely delicious!! It turned out perfectly for me. I left everything in the filling the same, maybe a little extra Irish cream may have slipped in ;), but for the crust I left out the icing sugar and the cocoa powder becaue I felt it didn't need it. Also when baking I wrapped the bottom of the cake tin in heavy duty tin foil twice and set it into a large roasting pan. Once I put the pan in the oven I poured hot water around it. Thses helps the cheesecake while baking to avoid any cracks on the top. Also when the cheesecake is done just turn off the oven and crack the oven door slightly and allow it to cool completely before removing the cake.

Copper Carrots

Reviewed: May 5, 2007
Great recipe for carrots and even my picky nephew would eat these!! I used brown sugar to give a more caramel flavour and also used fresh squeezed orange juice as well as the zest from the orange to pick up the flavour just a bit more.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
I was pretty impressed by the way these turned out, they were delicious!! I added some walnuts into mine instead of the raisins and baked them in the muffin tray which is a great idea instead of trying to tear them apart from eachother. I would suggest putting a tray under the muffin tin while baking though because the filling tends to bubble over quite a bit. I think next time I'll cut the filling back to 1/3 cup butter and 3/4 cup brown sugar, but I'll keep the cinnamon the same.

Perfect Sushi Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2007
Very happy with the way this turned out for my first time making it. I used regular white rice but next time I will definetly get some sushi rice to use. I would reccommend using a rice cooker for sure because I find it gives a better texture to the rice which I find much tastier!!

Spring Lime Tea Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
A great cookie for when your in the mood for a nice light treat with a cup of tea. Not an overly sweet cookie so it really allows the lime flavour to shine. Served mine without the glaze to save on calories ;) Would recommend using icing sugar to make the glaze with because it will disolved better than the granulated sugar will and also wait until the cookies are almost completely cooled before you glaze.

Irish Tea Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
This recipe is great if you want something that is moist and not too sweet. The perfect cake to serve after dinner with a scoop of ice cream and a cup of tea. Would also be good with a citrus glaze pour over top.

Honey Nut Granola

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
This granola is the absolute best I have ever had!!! I will NEVER buy it from a grocery store again, so easy to make and turns out absolutely delicious. I added in some wheat germ, flax seeds and used a locally produced wildflower honey. I would definitely suggest for people to bake the granola on either a sheet of parchment or in a non-stick oven roaster, that way you'll have no problems and won't have to scrape it off baking sheets!!!

Gingered Garlic Shrimp

Pretty good recipe. I add a little red wine vinegar like the other reviewer, and also a little more ginger. Turned out great, nice change from the normal weekday blandness.

Tzatziki Sauce I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2006
A pretty good dip, everyone really seemed to enjoy it. A little too much grlic for me. I made sure I finely grated and drained my cucumber so the dip would not turn too runny. Also I added in a tsp of finely minced fresh mint, which really enhanced the 'cooling' effect of the dip.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2006
Good combo of healthy whole wheat and a filling pancake. Made mine with bananas instead of blueberries because thats what I had. Doesn't have a heavy whole wheat taste, however i did only use 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1/4 cup of all-purpose. Would definelty make again for a nice change at breakfast.

Seared Scallops with Tropical Salsa

This is a great recipe for scallops!! Simple and delicious. Sweet and mildly spicy salsa over succulent scallops!! Yum Yum. Make sure you allow the salsa flavours to blend together for at least 1 hour before serving.

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
Over all a very good cookie, moist and chewy but not that over the top maple flavour. However, I did not roll the cookies in the maple sugar and that may have made the difference, so next time I will definitely hunt down some maple sugar!!!

Silver White Cake

This cake turned out beautifully!! Nice and moist and not too sweet on it's own. Made it for at the restaurant for a nice light dessert. Filled it with lemon curd and topped with a buttercream icing.
