Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
Pretty good! The combo of oil and butter added a unique taste. My guests were not disappointed, but I think next time I'll stick to my own garlic spread. Another reviewer stated it's all about the quality of bread you use, and I agree. I think that's the secret to any amazing garlic bread! :)

Stuffed Shells III

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
These were really great, and really easy. I read the reviews before hand and decided to just follow the recipe exactly. Next time I'll minimize the salt like some others have suggested. I think my biggest problem was using Kraft parmesan cheese instead of fresh grated, but that's all I had on hand. I baked for 50 mins, but I might decrease that to 40 next time as well (some of the shells were a little dry even though they were totally covered in sauce). I served it with homemade garlic bread.

Microwave Popcorn

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
This is great! I grew up with the pre-made bags, but I'll never buy them again! I don't coat the kernels in oil and I find that 1/4 cup fits in my paper bags just right. I'm glad I read the reviews, or else I wouldn't have known to stand the bag upright. Depending on my mood I'll top with a small amount of salted butter, or, for something sweeter, some salted butter and sugar. Parmesan cheese is delicious, too!

Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
This is the best chicken parmesan I've ever made. My boyfriend is INSISTING we have this at least once a month. I served it over angel hair pasta tossed in olive oil. I hate a soggy chicken parm and this recipe definitely fixed that problem. The mix of cheeses is divine! The only 'change' I made was I used half Italian breadcrumbs, half panko, but that was only because I ran out of panko. I think it added a bit more flavor anyway and will probably continue to do so in the future. Chef John, you rock! :)

Bacon Wrapped Hotdogs

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
These are delicious and easy! I've made bacon wrapped hot dogs in the oven before, but never again, this is so much better. The only thing I'd suggest is giving it a good stir about an hour to an hour and a half before serving so the bacon-dogs on top can crisp up. I plan on making these for my gender-reveal party next week so the guys have something to snack on other than veggies and sandwiches. :P

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
These are awesome! I love snickerdoodles, but they *need* to be soft and chewy. This recipe is practically fool proof. The dough is soft and spongy, but the cookies come out perfectly dense. I followed the recipe exactly (doubled) and baked 10 mins. This is my new go-to snickerdoodle! I had some friends over when I was baking and they kept snatching them right off the cooling racks! :)

Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
These are perfect! I followed the recipe exactly and they came out absolutely perfect. The only little thing I added was I rolled the balls of dough in sugar before I put them on the pan, but that's just something my mother always did and doesn't really affect the taste, just makes them sparkle. :) If you want a little color, try rolling them in colored sugar! An amazing cookie! I will most definitely be making these again and again!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
These are great! The perfect combo of crunch and chew. I followed the recipe exactly (doubled), but when it came to cook time, I had to increase the time to 13 mins. I had some friends over when I was baking and they kept 'helping themselves' every time I took a pan out of the oven. :)

Crescent Dogs

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
I grew up with these, but my boyfriend had never heard of them! I couldn't believe it! Needless to say, they are now a staple in our house. Quick, easy, super convenient, and pretty much fool-proof. Great with or without the cheese. I like to cut the hot dogs in half before rolling so they fit the dough triangles easier and it only uses four hot dogs. Try stuffing the slit hot dog with partially cooked bacon and shredded cheddar cheese! :)

Cranberry Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
This recipe was very 'meh' for us. The meatballs tasted like meatloaf, which is fine, but I wanted that 'meatball consistency'. The sauce was pretty good, and was great to mop up with some bread. My boyfriend suggested using the leftovers on sub rolls. Probably won't make this again, or I will use pre-made meatballs if I do. I'd also double the cranberry sauce so it's not so barbecue-y.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
If I could give this recipe 6 stars, I would! Amazing! I followed it exactly and I wouldn't change a thing. My boyfriend is a hardcore potato salad junkie and is VERY particular about the ratios between mayo, potato, egg, and crunch. Every time he grabs some from the fridge he has to comment on how unique and utterly delicious it is, which makes me quite happy. Lots of prep time is totally worth it for such a scrumptious salad! :) PS. The bacon has stayed pretty crisp after a few days in the fridge!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
This was delicious and so easy! I had oatmeal sitting in the cupboard that I needed to get rid of and I'm so glad I found this recipe! I was going for more of a dessert-type bar so I used 2 cups milk chocochips. I also used chunky peanut butter. Next time, I'll try using honey instead of the corn syrup like other reviewers have suggested, just to switch it up. They did cool to be a bit crumbly, but I stuck them in the fridge and now they're chewy and perfect. My whole house smelled like peanut butter while they were in the oven! Mmmm! :)

Easy Sweet and Sour Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
This was good, not wonderful. My boyfriend liked it, but said the chicken needed more seasoning and I have to agree, but that's an easy fix. The sauce was nice, loads better than pre-packaged sweet and sour. I served it over steamed white rice and it made for a very pretty presentation. Might make it again if I have the ingredients on hand, but I wouldn't go out of may way to buy them. Heated up great next day.

Honey Crystal Almonds

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
I had an almost-full container of roasted almonds left over from another recipe and didn't want them to go to waste. This recipe was perfect! I took the advice of other reviewers and after letting the almonds cool a bit on a foil lined cookie sheet, I spooned them into a gallon Ziploc bag and shook them up with the sugar, a bit of salt, and some cinnamon. After, I poured it all back out onto a freshly lined cookie sheet and separated them, then let them cool completely. These were so delicious, my father and brothers ate them all before they could make it to the Thanksgiving table! They said they tasted gourmet! :)

Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
I made this for a Thanksgiving dessert platter and everyone loved it! I used milk chocolate chips and stirred in 1 cup of coconut and topped each small piece with an almond. I made a second batch using Reese's peanut butter chips and it was divine!
