Curly Noodle Dinner

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
Surprisingly good! Used turkey, added a whole onion, some garlic, and two packs ramen noodles. Kids liked it and so did I. It was cheap, too!

Dorm Room Cheesy Tuna and Noodles

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
Not to bad for cheap, on the fly 'dorm' food. I did mine with half a pack of seasoning (that stuff's really salty!), a lil' EVOO (yummo!), and a slice of Pepperjack cheese.

Never Fail Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
This is my GO TO RECIPE for biscuits! It wasn't until this recipe that I finally made a real biscuit that was edible! Tips: I turn my oven up to ~500° F and get it HOT! I use my food processor to mix my dry and butter all in. Then I use a little less than 1/2 c. buttermilk (I take whole milk, heat it up, and throw some lemon into it). Then I bake them for about 10 minutes and also broil the tops of them some. KILLER biscuits! I am a TRUE southern cook now ;)))

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
Perfect recipe and totally kid friendly. I used instant pudding because it was what I had on hand. Came together wonderfully. Stuck the dough in the fridge for about 10 minutes, cut it into 1/4's and let the kids pat it out and cut their own shapes. We all had such a great time that I totally plan on doing it again, this time with frosting and decorations for the cookies.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
Pretty good. I didn't have corn syrup so I used honey. I also made mine in the microwave using 30 second intervals. It's definately MUCH easier that way! Made a hard chocolate top.

Rapid Mix Sweet Dough

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
I cannot say ENOUGH good things about this recipe! It makes WONDERFUL pizza dough and yummy dinner rolls! I mixed all the dry and butter in a pan, put the egg and water in my bread machine, dumped in the dry and let it mix - superb! I don't put mine in the fridge - just use after letting it sit for a few minutes. And, to make dinner rolls, use about 2 oz. of dough, roll, and put in muffin pan. I like to drizzle mine with some EVOO. When they come out, you can eat then, or you can store (I use an old bread bag). When you want to eat them, put butter and garlic salt on them, heat in the oven, and NUMMY NUMMY!!!

Vanilla Ice Cream IV

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
Yumm-o! Had to make some modifications simply becuase I didn't have some of the stuff on hand to make it exactly. I used powdered milk to make 4 cups milk, and used 2% for the rest. Instead of using vanilla pudding, I used cheesecake flavored. Let me assure you, this stuff is AMAZING! YUMMY! Perfect!

Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
Nummy! I like this better than regular icing - this is not too sweet, as often happens when using powdered sugar. Mine came out soft, but I must have overbeat it. It doesn't matter, because it spread easily, tastes really good, and looks good!

Honey Chicken Stir-Fry

I'd give this a 10 if I could. Changed NOTHING, and it was awesome. Hubby and I BOTH loved it, which is saying something!

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
Yummy! I needed a spaghetti sauce becuase I simply HATE that stuff in a jar/can. Nasty! Anyway... I didn't have any onions on hand, so I used onion powder. I only used hamburger meat (a little over 1 lb) because we don't eat a lot of meat. Left out the carrots and celery and next time around I'll leave out the red pepper flakes also. It was good, and made a huge pot! Definately what I'll use from now on!

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
I"m giving this four simply b/c I altered it. I didn't have any sausage on hand, but I took some animal fat (a mix of lard and others) and melted it instead (my mom has always used Crisco). I added the 1/4 cup flour, cooked that for a minute or two, and then dumped in the milk. I then stirred very briskly to break up all the lumps and then I let the heat do the rest. Perfect gravy! Hope this helps!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
Tasted just like the snickerdoodles I had when I was in primary school. They were so light and fluffy and just scrumptious!! I did not change a thing!! I made a bunch and put in a tin for my aunt's birthday, but the kids and I just couldn't help it; we did save her one, though :o))

Amish Yumazuti

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
I modified this recipe and it came out pretty good. I used a half turkey/half hamburger mix, some worchestershire sauce, no celery, 1 pkg (2 cups) Kroger casserole cheese, 2 cans cream of chicken. I used the diced tomatoes, but nobody liked them, so I'll take them out the next time. It really does taste like Hamburger Helper. I will definately make this in the future as it is very simple, quick, and can be prepared ahead of time and stuck in the fridge until needed.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2007
Yummy! I halved it and made a few changes: No broth, so I used cubes Used minced garlic with the onions Threw some canned carrots in with the broccoli to simmer Used 1 cup shredded cheddar with the Velvetta to thicken it up Did not use cornstarch (I never put cornstarch or flour in my soups, just more veggies) Put all of this in the blender so I didn't have chunks Read some other reviews and put in nutmeg - not going to do that again! Did not like the taste of it! Overall, I love this recipe! But, until broccoli turns another shade, the husband and kids won't touch it :o)

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2007
This was WONDERFUL and a HIT in my house! Talk about comfort food and YUMMY! The only thing I did different was to use egg noodles and I added the 1 cup of cheese TO the casserole, not on top of it (cheesy goodness!!!). I didn't have any french onions, so I substituted: put some Ritz Veggie crackers in a baggie, drizzled in some EVOO and crushed them all up. I then put that on top of the casserole and backed for 20 minutes...

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
This was great!!! Cheap, fast, and EASY! I omitted the salt, and I used regular garlic powder and celery seed. Even though I didn't have parsley or thyme, I couldn't tell that it was lacking anything. Tried it out on some carrots and superb!!

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
I had to make some changes owing to personal taste and what I have on hand: I used white cornmeal (I don't like yellow), 1/4 cup of sugar (growing up we never put sugar in our cornmeal), and I always substitue powdered milk for regular milk in recipes (it's cheaper!). I threw in some cheddar cheese and it tasted great! This was amazing. The sugar amount was perfect for us and it was SOO light and fluffy. This is THE recipe for me!!

Honey Peanut Granola

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
This is my new cereal. I refuse to buy that sugar coated junk at the store. The only change I made was to take out the peanuts (everyone hated them!) and subsituted flax for wheat bran (all I had). I also sprinkle a TBSP of white sugar on top before I bake it. I've made this at least five times since I found the recipe! I do add-ins in the bowl as we all like different things. YUMMY!

Swedish Cookies (Brunscrackers)

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
I loved this recipe. Owing to the fact I had no clue what golden syrup or vanilla sugar were, I just improvised. I used honey for the syrup and for the vanilla sugar I used 1 tsp vanilla extract. These were great! I also liked the fact it had no eggs since I LOVE to eat cookie dough by itself!

Gooey Butter Cookies

I really didn't like these and neither did anyone else in my family. I wouldn't make them again. They had an odd taste to them and they were dry.
